Thierry Henry Signs With Puma
UPDATE 29/7 - It's official! Thierry Henry has joined Team PUMA. The news we were all expecting was officially announced today as one of footballs all-time superstars became the latest athlete to join the expanding Puma roster.
The New York Red Bulls star joins South African captain Steven Pienaar as two of Puma's high profile summer transfers! The former Arsenal man who set the Premier League alight wearing Nike Mercurial boots has already made one competitive appearance in Puma boots - wearing the King Finale for the MLS All-Stars.
After playing just one match in the highly rated King Finale football boots, we're already hearing that the Red Bulls speed king could soon step out in the v1.11! An exciting prospect for sure, especially when you consider Thierry's next three matches will be at the home of his former London club in this weekends Emirates Cup!
28/7 - It seems Thierry Henry has confirmed his move into Puma football boots, by wearing the King Finale's for the MLS All-Star game against Manchester United which received global coverage.
Henry even went as far as to switch colourways for the show-piece event. If the move is a permanent one, it's a great coup for Puma and a huge loss for Reebok as Henry's stock within the increasingly popular MLS is huge. We'll be keeping a close eye for further developments, so stay tuned to our SoccerBible Boot Spy for the latest boot exclusives.
26/7 - There was a bit of a shock in the office today when our SoccerBible inbox began flooding with this image of Thierry Henry, preparing for the MLS Allstar game wearing Puma football boots! Henry has been a wearer of Reebok football boots for over four years now, and before then it was Nike, which makes this even of a surprise to see the striker in Puma's.
Henry has long been a speed merchant who sticks to synthetic uppers, so to see him wearing a leather boot such as the Puma King Finale is quite a change from the norm. All eyes will be on the pitch when Henry steps out for the MLS All Star team at the Red Bull Arena to face Manchester United on 27th July.
So what do we think, could this be a permanent move for Thierry Henry, or is he just wearing the boots for training? Have your say online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
