Kyle Walker and Leroy Sane debuted the Nike Mercurial Superfly from the Air Max Icons collection as Germany beat England 1-0 in Dortmund last night – The first of three key fixtures where Nike plan to roll out the special edition boots.
Lukas Podolski may have taken the plaudits with his dream send off from international football but while the Germans were celebrating a narrow victory over the Three Lions Nike were celebrating the build up to Air Max Day 2017 by lacing up two of their Mercurial men in the Superfly V inspired by the design of the Air Max 90 shoe.
Two Premier League stars were the men tasked with representing the Air Max hype as Tottenham's Kyle Walker and Manchester City's Leroy Sane both laced up in the limited edition boot. There was further Air Max involvement at Signal Iduna Park with defensive duo Chris Smalling and Antonio Rudiger both wearing the Nike Tiempo Legend 6 that shares the aesthetics with the famous Air Max 1 edition.
They'll be more Air Max movement next week on the international scene as Nike have targeted France vs Spain (28/03) and Holland vs Italy (28/03) to feature the Air Max Icons collection, where they'll be debut for the Hypervenom and Magista Obra II. Keep an eye out for Kingsley Coman in the Mercurial, Alexandre Lacazette in the Hypervenom, Sergi Roberto & Leonardo Bonucci in the Magista and Sergio Ramos in the Tiempo.
