Mbappé set to leave Nike for adidas?

Think what you were doing in the summer of your 18th birthday. It's probably going to be a bit different to that of Kylian Mbappé's summer. The Monaco youngster has been linked with world record transfers, been labelled the next superstar, and now he's reportedly in talks to leave Nike for adidas in another colossal deal.

An exceptional season in both the Champions League and Ligue 1 has whipped up serious hype around Kylian Mbappé; his club future is up in the air and now it appears his sponsorship is too. Mbappwe's contract with Nike is rumoured to expire this summer and adidas are already on high alert to try and wrap up the youngster in the Three Stripes, while Nike will be doing all they can to convince him to renew.

Spanish newspaper Sport have reported that Nike are already preparing a considerable offer to keep the young Frenchman, however, adidas would be willing to part with €5m per season to sign Mbappé. That sort of money is always reserved for the highest profile established players, so the fact that adidas are reportedly keen to offer him a deal in that bracket shows how highly they rate the forward. A welcomed addition to the Nemeziz or X party for sure, and a solid investment in a post Lionel Messi generation.

"How much? Nice."

Nike have yet to use Mbappe much in their campaigns (just the Monaco NikeiD collection) but that would no doubt all change moving into the new season. The brand he wears on his boots could be influenced by his next transfer, with adidas being put in the driving seat should he sign for Real Madrid, a team Mbappé himself has already stated he'd like to play for. Whatever happens, you're about to see a whole lot more Kylian Mbappé in the 2017/18 season. Not bad for a kid.
