Oezil Switches to Nike CTR360
Ahead of Germany's Euro 2012 Qualifier with Turkey, Mesut Oezil is the latest player to be spied switching from the Nike Mercurial range - although at least this time he stays loyal to the Swoosh, opting for the Nike CTR360 Maestri Elite boots!
The Real Madrid star has been a big Mercurial name and since his meteoric rise to fame this year, has sported all of the big releases in the Superfly range, from the World Cup Elite to Bright Cactus and has most recently been playing in the Voltage Cherry colourway.
However as our spy shots show, the impressive midfielder has opted to switch to the CTR360 series for training with his country.
Interestingly, especially for us football boot fans, Oezil looks to be wearing an Elite sole plate version of the CTR360 Maestri boots but with a different stud configuration to the retail version. Perhaps the Olympic Stadium pitch in Berlin required such a modification, as this is a very similar sole unit to the one used by CTR360 icon Cesc Fabregas.
It hasn't escaped our attention that a lot of players are switching around the Nike boots - but there is certainly a pattern emerging. A lot of midfielders are moving into the Nike CTR360 series, such as Oezil and Essien, whilst we're seeing out-and-out attackers switching to Nike T90 Laser boots - including former Mercurial stars Dempsey and Bojan.
All this leads us to believe it could be Nike themselves who are the reason behind these recent moves...
