Yaya Toure Tests PUMA Prototype
Alerting our boot spying senses, is all-action midfielder Yaya Toure seen here testing a pair of blacked out PUMA football boots. An intriguing spot this, for a player known for previously wearing speed and accuracy footwear.
We've got our hands on some great imagery of Toure and his prototype football boots, and there's certainly the feeling something is in the offing from PUMA. When you consider the recent Facebook post, accompanying an image of Yaya with the text "It's in my nature to be a control freak".
But this is where the mystery lies. An all-leather PUMA football boot you would instantly assume to be a King, however Toure is currently wearing the speed range, and announcing he's a 'control freak'. So perhaps there are more clues in a close-up look at his black-out football boots.
With a traditional Formstripe adorning the upper, the material appears to be leather, an area PUMA has a long running pedigree. Modern footwear does have a penchant for synthetic materials and synthetic leather, so we'll be intrigued to find out what materials PUMA are developing.
Whilst the upper may have a more sober and classic design (of course we're yet to see any potential colours!), the outsole appears to be engineered differently from any previous PUMA boot. There's a unique combination of squared, rounded and tapered studs in a new configuration, and the heel counter looks bespoke to any current PUMA boots.
So could Toure potentially be switching silo's or even heading up a new range after his 'control' comment? You would expect Aguero or Falcao also to be testing the boot if Toure was remaining in the speed silo, and with PowerCat strongly led by Fabregas, this would suggest the options are limited for what football boot these could be.
