Sturridge & Rooney Latest To Test-Drive New Nike Silo

Boot testing is in full swing with Nike and adidas really turning up the heat in recent weeks. This summer is building up to be a fiercely contested battle between the rival brands, with both companys preparing to launch new boot silos ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

Nike's headline boot for the summer season was back in testing last week, on the feet of Premier League attacking duo Daniel Sturridge and Wayne Rooney. New boot silos bring new players and already we're beginning to see the type of names Nike are targeting.

The professionals on Nike's hit list indicate the type of player they are aiming for. Neymar, Welbeck, Sturridge and Rooney - a mixture of Mercurial T90 attacking talent with games based on power and speed. Drafting superstar names such as Neymar Rooney show just how big Nike want this boot to be!

Rooney might not be the force he once was when he first announced himself on a global scale, but he remains one of Nike's strongest names. For so long, the T90 was built around Rooney's game of power and accuracey. But with the United striker set for a switch, could this boot signal the end of the T90 era?

The dimpled upper is a feature we've come to know. The distinctive divots wrap around the entire upper and share similarities to what you'd see on a golf ball. The boots also feature an unorthodox, figure-of-eight sole plate with asymmetrically-placed, rounded studs. From the shots of Rooney's boots we can also make out a Nike Swoosh on the heel.

There's certainly a lot more to come with this boot! Let us know what you're expecting from the guys at Nike. Could this be the biggest boot of the year? Join in the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
