With the adidas Predator set to celebrate its 20th birthday this year we're expecting something pretty big from the Three Stripes. Each Predator release is highly anticipated and Per Metresacker got the countdown underway by lacing up in the next generation Pred at Arsenal's Colney training ground this afternoon.

If adidas' idea was to slip Metresacker a pair under the radar to train in, provide feedback and pass back without attracting attention then that failed - Lukas Podolski clocked them straight away and blew adidas' cover by quickly pointing them out to the cameras.

The blacked out prototypes on the feet of the big German provide the most detailed look yet at the next generation adidas Predator, the 14th model since the first ever Predator launched in 1994. The most obvious observation of the boot is that the 'Lethal Zones' are set to stay; the strategically placed pieces of rubber look to have been tweaked and reshaped to offer improved striking, dribbling and passing benefits.

The next adidas Predator is rumoured to be released in time for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Visuals wise we'll have to wait and see what the new Pred will bring, the majority of Predator fans will be hoping for a classic black/white/red launch colourway but a quick look at the Samba Pack and it's difficult to rule anything out.
