The pick of the week's best football boots from across the globe
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX Fast Forward '10
The last of Nike's Fast Forward editions was worn exclusively by Cristiano Ronaldo in Sunday's el clasico. In a pulsating 4-3 defeat the Real Madrid man notched from the penalty spot wearing the boot inspired by the Mercurial Vapor Superfly II he wore in South Africa in 2010.
Andrew Durante (Wellington Phoenix) Puma evoPOWER
Andrew Durante slipped into the alternative PUMA evoPOWER colourway down under at the weekend. The Wellington Phoenix player opted for the more subtle blue/white/peach combo over the bright red launch colourway worn by all of the brand's contracted players.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal) Nike HyperVenom
Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a bad afternoon on Saturday at Stamford Bridge, the midfielder, who was wearing the new spring/summer Nike HyperVenom colourway, gave away a penalty and was subbed at half time as his side were dumped 6-0 by Chelsea.
Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal) Nike Tiempo Legend V
Gibbs was laced up Nike's latest Tiempo Legend V colourway as he was mistakenly sent off for deliberate hand ball on the line against Chelsea. With the ball flying wide Chamberlain decided make sure and tipped it out for a corner but referee Marriner gave Gibbs his marching orders.
Vedran Janjetovic (Sydney FC) adidas adizero F50
Another trip down under as Sydney FC goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic was wearing the second generation adidas adizero F50 at the weekend. Speed boots are a rare choice for 'keepers who usually opt for a more comfortable boot that offers extra cushioning for striking the ball.
Christian Eriksen (Tottenham) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX
Spurs spent big last summer but the majority of the players they signed have failed to live up to expectation. One player who has delivered is Christian Eriksen and the midfielder scored twice to rally a comeback as Tottenham beat Southampton 3-2 at White Hart Lane. Eriksen was wearing the Mercurial Fast Forward '06 editions inspired by Nike's Vapor III worn by R9 at the 2006 World Cup.
Uchenna Kanu (Nigeria Women's U17) adidas Predator LZ
Almost all of the Nigeria Women's U17 team were wearing the women's specific orange/purple adidas Predator LZ colourway during their World Cup group game with Mexico at the weekend. Uchenna Kanu and her teammates created a dominant on pitch presence with their matching choice of boots.
Daniel Arrayo (Independiente del Valle) adidas Predator LZ
Into the Ecuadorian top flight and Independiente del Valle's Daniel Arrayo laced up in an all white pair of adidas Predator LZ boots for his team's game against LDU Quito. A whiteout job always looks slick and Arrayo's is as clean as they come.
Sergio Busquets (Barcelona) Nike CTR360 Maestri III
Sergio Busquets politely explained to Pepe that stamping on people hurts during the clasico on Sunday. The Real Madrid defender felt the full force of Busquets CTR as he laid on the Bernabeu turf. With Pepe being a top sportsman and general all round nice chap we imagine that the next time the two players meet they'll just laugh it off and move on, either that or Pepe will steamroll him at the first given opportunity.
Lucas Orban (Bordeaux) adidas Predator adiPower
Another player who has followed Joe Allen into the old school Predator model is Bordeaux's Lucas Orban. Orban has opted for the adiPower that was originally launched in 2011 over the current Lethal Zones and he's not alone, the adiPower had a big following and is still admired by numerous players who can't warm to the LZ.
Jonjo Shelvey (Swansea City) adidas Predator LZ
Jonjo Shelvey often mixes up his footwear. The Swansea midfielder has been chopping and changing his boots and featuring in boot spotting since his Anfield days and the midfielder returned to Merseyside at the weekend wearing a custom and traditional black/red/white Predator colourway.
Francesco Totti (Roma) Nike Tiempo Legend V
New colourway, same modifications. Roma legend Totti has once again been supplied with his own unique pair of Nike Tiempo Legend V boots that feature his now signature elasticated fold over tongue. A player of Totti's stature gets what he wants and he's found what he likes and has stuck with it.
Raul Nava (Toluca) Under Armour Clutchfit
Under Armour have quite a presence in Mexico. The American brand are the official kit manufacturer to Mexican outfit Toluca and have managed to get Raul Nava into their new Clutchfit boot. The boot is yet to be officially launched but we've managed to get hold of a pair and the fit and technology is mightily impressive.
