Our selection of the headline boots on pitch this week
Tom Cleverley (Manchester United) Nike Magista Opus
Tom Cleverley opted for the secondary Magista Opus colourway when United entertained Valencia to round off their pre-season friendlies this week. The more toned down Opus colourway looks pretty slick on pitch but how many more times we'll see Cleverley grace the Old Trafford turf in them remains to be seen with Van Gaal yet to cut his squad.
Sam Ricketts (Wolves) adidas Predator LZ
Last week we saw Wolves' Dave Edwards matching up his footwear with the club's home colours and this week Sam Ricketts has followed suit by creating a pair of gold/white/black adidas Predator LZ's to wear against Northampton in the League Cup.
Vincent Kompany (Manchester City) Warrior Skreamer
After picking up his new Warrior Skreamer boots from Pro-Direct LDN19 earlier in the week Man City skipper Vincent Kompany slipped into the updated colourway to help his side keep a clean sheet at Newcastle in a 2-0 win.
Jake Hyde (York City) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX
The Nike Flash Pack was one of the most impressive disruptive launches of the 2013/14 season and York City's Jake Hyde has picked up a pair to kick off the current campaign in. The Mercurial joined the HyperVenom, Tiempo and CTR in a collection that featured distinctive white reflective patterns towards the heel area of each design.
Adam Clayton (Middlesbrough) adidas Predator Instinct
New Boro signing Adam Clayton made his debut away at Elland Road wearing the latest adidas Predator Instinct colourway. The white/red/black paint job has left many players in Europe frustrated as it's a US exclusive, although that didn't stop Clayton getting hold of a pair.
Paul Konchesky (Leicester City) Nike Magista Opus
Leicester kicked off their Premier League return with a well-deserved 2-2 draw at home to Everton. The pick of the boots on show came from ex-Liverpool full back Paul Konchesky who's kitted himself out in a custom pair of Nike Magista Opus boots to match up with the Foxes' home kit. Yeah, he does look weird with hair.
Lucas Ocampos (Monaco) adidas F50 adizero
Monaco's Lucas Ocampos wore the limited edition adidas F50 Carnaval Pack editions at the weekend. The boots were released ahead of the World Cup in Brazil and were inspired by the ticker tape of the World's most famous festival in South America. One of the most visually unique boot collections but rarely worn on pitch.
Marouane Fellaini (Manchester United) Warrior Gambler II
Marouane Fellaini kicked off the new campaign in Warrior's second generation Gambler boot against Swansea after wearing it to score the winner against Valencia in midweek. Warrior have gone all out to compete with the best by using the popular volt colourway for maximum visibility on pitch.
Kaka (Sao Paulo) adidas Predator Instinct
Kaka used the recently released adidas Predator Instinct Whiteout boot to celebrate peace according to his Instagram profile. The Brazilian shared an image of the boots with the message "Today I play with a white color soccer shoes to celebrate the peace. I hope you will cheer in peace during the classic match today ! #classicofpeace"
Nicholas Morton (South Hobart) Nike GS
Just 2012 pairs of Nike GS boots were launched, with the vast majority of those staying in collectors' presentation cases. Built from 160g of recycled and renewable engineering, the boot has become a unique spot and one that hasn't been seen on pitch for a long time until Nicholas Morton worn them at the weekend.
Dani Alves (Barcelona) adidas F50 adizero
After training in a blackout Superfly last week Dani Alves still looks to be undecided on his footwear for the new season. The Barca full back took to the training pitch in a blackout pair of the original micoach F50's this week. Never has anyone looked happier to be kicked in the face than Alex Song. Pure ecstasy.
Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal) Puma evoSPEED 1.3
PUMA look to have reeled in another Gooner in Laurent Koscielny. The Arsenal defender notched in their opening 2-1 win over Crystal Palace wearing the a leather version of the latest evoSPEED 1.3 colourway rather than the Arsenal specific Special Edition Red/White combo.
