Global Boot Spotting

Our weekly round-up of the best boot-spotting action from across the globe.

Rene
Rene

Rene (Sport Recife) adidas f50 adizero

Professional players wearing another player's signature boot always deserves a feature. Sport Recife defender Rene slipped into the “Neon Orange” adidas f50 adizero Messi football boots as his team faced Brasileirao Serie A rivals Cruzeiro. Truthfully we know nothing about the lad, but the Brazilian has been wearing Messi’s signature boots for the past few games (cheers Getty) so its about time he made it onto here.

Martinuccio

Martinuccio (Coritiba) Nike HyperVenom Phantom

We’re sticking in Brazil, this time with Coritiba and club striker Martinuccio who was spotted wearing a pair of Nike HyperVenom Phantom ‘Flash Pack’ boots as his side faced up against Serie A rivals Cruzeiro. Still a top looking boot that makes us wish Nike would release more white football boots.

Henrique

Henrique (Bahia) adidas f50 adizero

We’re still in Brazil having spotted Bahia striker Henrique sporting a pair of blacked-out f50 adizero football boots. The colourway under the disguise is the latest “Solar Pink” release; a boot which the young Brazilian has been wearing for a few weeks now. For some reason he’s decided to do a job on them…a familiar theme this week.

Robin Van Persie

Robin Van Persie (Manchester United) adidas f50 adizero

After a career-spanning relationship with adidas, is Robin Van Persie’s time with the three stripes coming to an end? The Dutchman’s blackout f50 adizero boots certainly suggest so, with the Manchester United striker disguising his “Glow Earth” boots for his sides Premier League match against West Ham. This should be an interesting one to follow, but we’ll be surprised if adidas are in any rush to throw money at renewing his deal.

Ryan Williams
Ryan Williams

Ryan Williams (Morecambe) adidas Predator Instinct

Morecambe midfielder Ryan Williams has been keeping it real this season with a pair of adidas Predator Instinct ‘Blackout’ editions seen here during the Morecambe vs Northampton Town League Two match-up. Stick a pair of these on and watch your gaffer give you a nod of respect. Nothing flash here.

Kaid Mohamed

Kaid Mohamed (Northampton) Nike Mercurial Vapor X

Williams’ opponent Kaid Mohamed has a slightly different taste when it comes to his boots, laceing up for Northampton wearing a pair of “Electric Green” Nike Mercurial Vapor IX football boots. We’ve not seen many players follow in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps with this colourway, but the Welsh striker has made the bright green Mercurials his first pair of Vapor Xs after upgrading from the Vapor IX series.

Fernando Forestieri
Fernando Forestieri

Fernando Forestieri (Watford) adidas Predator Accelerator

Watford’s Argentine striker Fernando Forestieri switched his f50 adizero boots for the adidas Predator Accelerator Instinct boots at the weekend as his side faced up against Blackburn Rovers. Forestieri joins a select number of professionals who have donned the special boots in competitive action. If adidas hadn’t made them a limited release, we’re sure that number would be a lot higher.

Joe Hart
Joe Hart

Joe Hart (Manchester City) Nike Magista Obra

Seeing Joe Hart in the Magista Obra is still taking some getting used to. After ending his ties with Umbro, the Manchester City shot stopper has settled in the Swoosh, most recently wearing the new “Hyper Turquoise” colourway in recent weeks. Hart is the Premier League's second top-flight keeper wearing the Obra, alongside Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny.

Kim Minhyeok
Kim Minhyeok

Kim Minhyeok (South Korea) Mizuno Basara

We don’t see much of the Mizuno Basara in Europe, but over in Asia the lightweight speed boots are beginning to take off. Most recently they’ve been making appearances in the 2014 Asia Games, seen here in the “Diva Blue” colourway on the feet of Kim Minhyeok as South Korea took on Japan.

Mauricio Pinilla
Mauricio Pinilla

Mauricio Pinilla (Genoa CFC) Umbro GeoFlare

Chile striker Mauricio Pinilla returned from the World Cup still wearing his “Jazzy Camo” Umbro GeoFlare Camo boots and now the Genoa striker has carried them into the new season, wearing them this past weekend as his side took on Sampdoria in Serie A. Umbro did release a Green Gecko Camo/Blackerry Cordial/Safety Yellow colourway as their lead boot for the World Cup, but what happened with this colourway remains somewhat of a mystery.

Alex
Alex

Alex (Coritiba) Penalty Brasil 70 Ultra

Penalty don’t look like threatening the European market any time soon, but still have a loyal following in their homeland. Cortiba’s Alex is continuing to represent the national brand with the new Brasil 70 Ultra which caught our eye with a bright green outsole.

Charyl Chappuis

Charyl Chappuis (Thailand) Nike Mercurial Vapor X

Another spot from the 2014 Asia Games comes from Thailand’s Charyl Chappuis who was one of two Thai players to wear the “Electric Green” Nike Mercurial Vapor IX football boots. For anyone not up-to-date with the Asia Games (we reckon that includes you) Thailand beat China 2-0 to set up a quarter final clash with Jordan, while defending champions Japan hammered Palestine 4-0 to set up an Asian Games quarter-final clash with South Korea.

Alexandre Pato

Alexandre Pato (São Paulo FC) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX

Alexandre Pato's trouble with the Nike Mercurial Superfly IV boots are well known, and now it seems the Brazilian is having issues with the Mercurial Vapor X. Pato stepped out for Sao Paulo's Brasileirao Serie A match against Fluminense wearing the Vapor X before reverting back to his trusted Mercurial Vapor IX 'Fast Forward' 06 editions.
