Global Boot Spotting

OUR WEEKLY ROUND-UP OF THE BEST BOOT-SPOTTING ACTION FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG) Nike Tiempo Legend V

Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned from injury at the weekend wearing a blacked out pair of Nike Tiempo Legend V boots against Marseille. Has his contract with Nike expired? We're saying that it's unlikely, with the probable explanation lying with the Tiempo offering more protection to Zlatan's heel injury than the Vapor would.

Edinson Cavani

Edinson Cavani (PSG) Nike Mercurial Vapor X

After wearing blacked out F50 boots for the last few weeks since his contract with adidas expired Edinson Cavani laced up in the Mercurial Vapor X this weekend. Nike have yet to announce whether the PSG striker has signed for the brand but if they have in fact done a deal then they've secured a Swoosh heavy front line in Paris.

Hulk

Hulk (Zenit St Petersburg) Mizuno Morelia Neo

Hulk and Lazar Markovic were both reppin' the new red/black/white Mizuno Morelia Neo colourway in the Champions League this week. Markovic's new wheels tied in nicely with Liverpool's home kit whereas Hulk's stood out on pitch with the all blue Zenit colours.

Andriy Yakovlev

Andriy Yakovlev (BATE Borisov) adidas adizero f50 Crazylight

The new f50 Crazylight colourway had Andriy Yakovlev digging out his original launch pair this week. The Bate Borisov man slipped into the limited edition boot that was originally launched in March and worn exclusively by Gareth Bale.

Mario Balotelli

Mario Balotelli (Liverpool) Puma evoPOWER MB45

Mario Balotelli laced up in his signature evoPOWER MB45 against Chelsea. The boots were supposed to be worn for just one game only and Balotelli was suppose to notch the winning goal and appear in them on every back page. Only half of that happened. Just 400 pairs have been released worldwide.

Roy Krishna

Roy Krishna (Wellington Phoenix) Lotto Solista

Roy Krishna gave us a sneak preview of the next Lotto Solista colourway this weekend. The Wellington Phoenix forward was sporting a silver/blue colourway version of the world's first fully reflective football boot, complete with updated graphics on the upper.

Glynn Blackhurst

Glynn Blackhurst (Norton United) adidas Predator adiPower

The lowest ranked team left in the FA Cup first round were eliminated at the weekend. Norton United went down 0-4 to Gateshead but the pick of the boot spotting action came via the feet of Glynn Blackhurst wearing the traditional black/red/white Predator adiPower, a perfect match up for his club's home colours.

Fidencio Oviedo

Fidencio Oviedo (Cerro Porteno) Puma evoSPEED 1.3 X-ray

The limited edition evoSPEED 1.3 X-ray didn't really make much noise on launch but it's unusual design caught the attention of Cerro Porteno's Fidencio Oviedo who snagged one of 910 pairs to rep in the Paraguayan top flight at the weekend against Olimpia.

Ze Roberto
Ze Roberto

Ze Roberto (Gremio) adidas adizero F50 Prime

The adidas f50 Prime dropped in 2011 as a lighter alternative (145g) to the standard adizero which weighed 20g heavier. Discontinued after just one generation the Prime series was replaced by the current 'Crazylight' boot but Ze Roberto has perhaps been put off by the eccentric colourways on the Crazylight and is sticking with what he knows.

Shane Long
Shane Long

Shane Long (Southampton) Nike T90 Laser IV

Southampton's unbelievable start to the Premier League season continued on Saturday with a routine 2-0 win over Leicester. Shane Long came off the bench to bag both goals wearing the Nike T90 Laser IV. The boot was replaced by the HyperVenom in the summer of 2013 by Long must have stocked up on T90's as he continues to fly the flag for the silo.

Yannick Bolasie
Yannick Bolasie

Yannick Bolasie (Crystal Palace) Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7

Yannick Bolasie was at it again this weekend. The palace winger has the biggest collection of football boots in the Premier League and was in action at Old Trafford in his latest pair- the Nike Superfly CR7. Bolasie has tried his best to turn Ronaldo's signature boot into his own by colouring in the CR to leave his own Eagles squad number. #YB7

Lee Cattermole

Lee Cattermole (Sunderland) adidas 11Pro

Lee Cattermole, pictured here holding a ball he probably didn't win fairly, matched up his old-school playing style with a no-nonsense custom 11Pro colourway against Palace on Monday. The black/white boots a throwback to the earlier generations of the adiPURE, when heritage boots were exactly that.

Rômulo
Rômulo

Rômulo (Juventus) Puma evoPOWER 1

Juve's Rômulo blacked out his PUMA evoPOWER boots to make his debut against Parma. Perhaps he was wearing PUMA for free, moved to a big club and decided he could earn a few quid out of this sponsorship game? Guess we'll have to wait and see if it worked. Keep winning 7-0 every week and he might be in luck.

Clayton Donaldson
Clayton Donaldson

Clayton Donaldson (Birmingham City) Nike Mercurial Vapor II

Clayton Donaldson bagged our boot spot of the week wearing the second generation Mercurial Vapor II. The "team red" colourway was launched in January 2004 (when Donaldson was 20) so the Birmingham striker has done well to keep them in a playable condition for over a decade.

Scott McDonald
Scott McDonald

Scott McDonald (Millwall) adidas Predator Instinct Accelerator

Millwall wore a camouflage kit at the weekend to pay tribute to Remembrance Sunday but it wasn't just the unique kit that caught our eye. Whereas most pairs of the limited edition adidas Predator Instinct Accelerators have taken their place in collector's showrooms a number of the boots have made their way onto pitches including Scott McDonald's.
