Eduardo (Kashiwa Reysol) Nike Mercurial Superfly IV
Eduardo's immaculate boot/kit combo was the tidiest choice of the week as the Kashiwa Reysol man designed a pair of yellow/black Nike Mercurial Superfly IV boots to match perfectly with his team's strip. Eduardo was in action in the 5th Emperor's Cup semi final match against Urawa Red Diamonds.
Ryan Bertrand (Southampton) Nike Hypervenom Phantom II
The turn of the year may have marked the expiration of Ryan Bertrand's contract with adidas. After wearing the adidas X 15.1 over the Christmas fixtures the Southampton full-back moved into a blacked-out, heavily modified pair of Nike Hypervenom Phantom II boots against Norwich. Bertrand has been busy with the scissors to cut off the Dynamic Fit Collar to produce a lower edition of the boot.
Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) adidas ACE 15.1
Roberto Firmino hasn't exactly caused the chaos in the Premier League that many Liverpool fans were expecting when they signed the Brazilian forward. Switching adidas silos in search of some goalscoring form, the Reds' striker moved out of the X 15.1 over the festive period and into the ACE.
Bakaye Dibassy (Sedan) Nike CTR360 Maestri III
Launched in December 2013, the Nike Reflective Pack consisted of a HyperVenom, Mercurial, Tiempo and CTR each featuring distinctive white reflective patterns towards the heel area of each design. Sedan's Bakaye Dibassy has hung onto a pair of the now discontinued CTR and was wearing them in his side's French Cup match against Bastia.
Marco Verratti (PSG) Puma evoSPEED SL
PSG and Inter Milan met in Doha, Qatar for a festive friendly this week to stay sharp over the Christmas break. Italian midfielder Marco Verratti used the match to test out the latest edition of the "Safety Yellow/Atomic Blue" evoSPEED SL. The PSG man has placed a custom sole-plate on the leather upper of the SL as he looks for extra traction than the three-stud design found on the standard SL plate.
Koki Ogawa (Toko Gakuen) Nike Tiempo Legend 6
Toko Gakuen has wasted no time getting busy with a custom Nike Tiempo Legend 6 design and if you weren't watching the 94th All Japan High School Soccer Tournament 3rd Round at the weekend then we question what you're doing with your life. Red upper, yellow Swoosh and laces, it's loud but for us it ain't in tune.
Olivier Giroud (Arsenal) Puma evoPOWER 1.3
PUMA are set to reveal the first design of the all new evoPOWER 1.3 in the next couple of weeks but for now their evoPOWER players remain in the CAMO edition of the next-generation boot. Olivier Giroud was one of a number of Premier League players to lace up in the disguised design as Arsenal edged out Newcastle 1-0 at the Emirates.
Wayne Hennessey (Crystal Palace) Umbro Velocita
Umbro may have released a couple of Velocita colour updates since the "Shocking Orange/Black" edition but Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has remained in that design to keep a clean boot/glove combo. The "Shocking Orange" drop was designed in line with the Umbro Neo Pro gloves, a pair that Hennessey used to pick the ball out the net three times as his side lost to Premier League strugglers Chelsea.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 324K Gold
After appearing in them briedlfy in October Cristiano Ronaldo was back in his signature Mercurial Superfly CR7 324K Gold boot to kick off the new year. Scheduled to drop this week, the design is a nod to Ronaldo ruthlessly powering his way to becoming the club's all-time leading scorer with 324 goals - A feat that he achieved in an incredible short amount of games, all of which played wearing the Mercurial line.
Messaoud Bouardja (Wasquehal) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX
Messaoud Bouardja is still waiting for his signature Nike series so in the mean time he's borrowing Ronaldo's. During Wasquehal's French Cup tie against PSG's second string side Bouardja was sporting the Nike CR Mercurial Galaxy originally released in October 2013 and styled with a deep blue & black galaxy print across the upper to reflect CR7's "out-of-this-world" ability.
Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) Nike Hypervenom Phantom II
The first half of the Premier League season was all about one man - Jamie Vardy. The leading marksman in the Premier League is up for grabs as his boot deal with Nike came to an end last month and the Leicester City striker is understandably after a bigger deal by blacking out his Hypervenoms. Brands, let the bidding war commence.
