Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Saint-Étienne) adidas Predator adiPower
After telling Canal + he buys his boots on eBay, Benoit Assou-Ekotto turned out for Saint-Etienne in a pair of 2011 adidas Predator adiPower boots this weekend. In his typically no nonsense words the former Spurs full back explained, "I'd rather be free than to prostitute myself for a sponsor. In all honesty, when you're an African player, it's not that interesting to have a sponsor. When you're European, it's better because business is done in Europe." Fair enough.
Andre Green (Aston Villa) Nike Mercurial Vapor X
With Villa seemingly waving the white flag high above Villa Park they chose to give a run out to a few of their young hopefuls against Tottenham on Sunday. Andre Green, equipped with his academy-esque blacked out Nike Mercurial Vapor X boots came off the bench as Villa slipped further towards the Premier League trap door.
Leon Legge (Cambridge United) Nike Tiempo Legend 6
Cambridge United's Leon Legge has whipped up a custom pair of Nike Tiempo Legend 6 boots this season in a blue and white combination with purple Swooshes and laces. A distinct design that doesn't follow the trend of matching up with his side's colours as most NikeiD efforts seem to, but a smart one at that.
Steven Beitashour (Toronto) adidas 11Pro Crazylight
The adidas 11Pro Crazylight edition dropped in October 2014 as the brand released a new and barley recognisable 11pro design. Weighing just 180g, the Crazylight was 80g lighter than the standard model, helped with the introduction of the SprintFrame found on the F50 at the time. Throw in a snake graphic and you've got yourself a fancy little number.
Jill Scott (England) New Balance
Jill Scott has previously been wearing Nike this season but she's switched into a mystery New Balance boot for the She Believes Cup in the USA. The 'N' logo on the outstep giving the game away from a brand perspective but a mesh toe-box and unseen design points towards perhaps a second-generation Furon that Scott is testing. One to watch.
Guillermo Beltron (Cerro Porteno) Nike Mercurial Vapor X
Guillermo Beltron took it upon himself to launch Nike's next Mercurial Vapor X colourway at the weekend. Landing as part of a brand new pack later this week, the colourful creation will slot alongside Nike's full silo collection for their players to slip into for the business end of the season. All will be revealed tomorrow.
Benjamin Mendy (Marseille) Nike Mercurial Superfly IV
Benjamin Mendy has taken customisation into his own hands by partially blacking out the upper of the Nike Mercurial Superfly IV to hide the boot of any branding. Swoosh censorship at its tidiest. Creating an almost "Tech Craft" design, the Marseille man's footwear caught the eye in his side's third consecutive 1-1 draw in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
Carlos Martins (Os Belenenses) adidas X 15.1
We've been banging the Women's colourway drum for a while now, saying how it will only be a matter of time until they make their way into the men's game, and the "White/Shock Green/Core Black" X 15.1 edition has taken the fancy of Os Belenenses' Carlos Martins. Of course, sizes are limited but if it fits, it's fair game.
Nikola Zonjic (White Eagles) Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite
One of the most intriguing boot spots of the week came via the feet of White Eagles' Nikola Zonjic. Wearing the Euro 2012 Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite edition was one thing, but adding a fold-over tongue was something else. Zonjic must have managed to stitch the tongue onto the boot to create one of the most unique custom modifications we've seen this season.
Eduardo (Kawasaki Frontale) Nike Mercurial Superfly IV
Eduardo is becoming a bit of boot spotting regular this season. The Kawasaki Frontale Brasilian took to the field in a black and volt pair of Nike Mercurial Superfly IV boots last week but this week he's mixed things up by returning to his favoured yellow and black editions. Wearing standard release colourways is far too mainstream for this man.
Luke Daniels (Scunthorpe) adidas X 15.1
Last month the "Shock Pink/Solar Green/Black" X 15.1 was released and almost forgotten about immediately. Zero on pitch presence has been reserved for the eccentric design from adidas' big contracted players but Scunthorpe United goalkeeper Luke Daniels opted for a pair on Saturday as his side drew 2-2 with Shrewsbury. Two in the pink for the big Scunny stopper.
