The show goes on as the international break rolls into Europe. We pick out the selection of throwback, custom and latest football boots on show on a weekend where Adam Lallana's late heroics gave Big Sam a winning start to his career at England's helm.
Keisuke Honda (Japan) Mizuno Wave Ignitus 4
Keisuke Honda gave Japan the lead in their World Cup Qualifier with UAE but the AC Milan man was on the losing side as the United Arab Emirates came from behind to win 2-1 in Saitama. Honda was laced up in the bright "Neon Yellow/Black" colourway of the Mizuno Wave Ignitus 4. A bold on-pitch design from the Japanese brand, that Honda has remained loyal to throughout his career.
George Francomb (Wimbledon) adidas Predator adiPower
George Francomb took things back to 2011 this weekend by lacing up in one of the more popular modern Predator series, the adiPower. Arguably the most popular non-tongued Predator, the adiPower featured heavily amongst pros, Robin van Persie in particular who remained in the silo after firing Manchester United to the league title in 2013, picking up the Golden Boot along the way.
Nwankwo Kanu (Arsenal Legends) Nike Tiempo Legend IV
Nwankwo Kanu turned out for the Arsenal Legends at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as he linked up with former players to take on a team of AC Milan legends. The gangly Nigerian frontman was laced up in a pair of blacked out Nike Tiempo Legend boots, size 18 no doubt. Kanu wasn't alone with the black out trend in North London this weekend as a number of old Gooners went all black.
Luis Boa Morte (Arsenal Legends) adidas adiPURE IV
Luis Boa Morte also opted for the stealth look as he took to the Emirates turf in a pair of adidas adiPURE IV boots. The fourth generation of the adiPURE series was launched in 2011 and worn by a number of heritage styled players including Frank Lampard and Kaka. Boa Morte wore PUMA for the majority of his career and continued to work with the brand after his playing days but for whatever reason got hold of a pair of adiPURE's for the game with the AC Milan legends.
Freddie Ljungberg (Arsenal Legends) Puma evoSPEED 1.4
Freddie Ljungberg, part of the Invincibles team, took his rightful place in the Arsenal Legends squad this weekend wearing a complete blackout edition of the PUMA evoSPEED 1.4 Leather boot. The Swedish midfielder is now part of the Arsenal Youth coaching staff and was a key PUMA player in his playing days. Never one to shy away from attention with racy photoshoots, dyed hair and bright boots, Freddie looks to be taking a more mellow approach to middle age.
Nigel Winterburn (Arsenal Legends) Puma King
They just don't make players with names like Nigel Winterburn anymore do they? Last Arsenal Legends player, promise. When the ex-pros dig out their old boots for a charity game there's always a time capsule of silos on show, and Winterburn dusted off a classic pair of PUMA Kings as he took on the AC Milan legends. No shin pads and rolled down socks. Old school.
Alex Rodman (Notts County) adidas F50 adizero
Back to 2016 in the fact that Alex Rodman is a current pro footballer, but we step briefly back into 2010 in the fact that he was wearing a pair of first-generation adidas F50 adizero boots in the Checkatrade Trophy this week. What's the Checkatrade Trophy, you ask? Don't even bother. Complete Pony. As for Rodman's boots, total class. 2010 South Africa World Cup vibes all over.
Eni Aluko (Chelsea) Under Armour Spotlight
Chelsea Ladies made it three WSL wins in a row last week as they came from behind to beat Notts County. England international Eni Aluko was the pick of the boot spotting action as she laced up in the Under Armour Spotlight silo, fresh off the back of signing with the American brand earlier in the season. The Spotlight replaces the Speedform silo and is fronted by Memphis Depay on the men's scene.
Sido Jombati (Wycombe) Nike Match Mercurial
We featured Sido Jombati a few weeks ago wearing the Nike Match Mercurial but it was hard to overlook him again after spotting the Wycombe Wanderers man continuing to stick with them as his boot of choice for the season. Jombati was in action against Northampton Town in the Checkatrade Trophy last week. What's the Checkatrade Trophy? Seriously, don't even bother. Not worthy of hosting a boot of such magnitude.
Aaron Payas (Gibraltar) adidas Gloro 15.1
Gibraltar warmed up for their 2018 World Cup Qualifying campaign with the daunting task of playing Euro 2016 Champions Portugal in Porto. Unsurprisingly it ended in defeat for the tiny nation, who actually play their home games in Portugal due to UEFA stadiums regulations and political complications with neighbouring Spain. Back to the football and Gib's Aaron Payas was keeping things old school with a pair of all black, red tongued adidas Gloro 15.1 boots. £80 boots on the international scene. Something quite warming about that.
