Global Boot Spotting

In a bumper week of frantic football that covered the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup we take a look back at the boots that caught out eye. From camo covers to throwback and custom creations. Global Boot Spotting looks something like this...

After training in the Under Armour Clutchfit 3.0 in midweek it looks as if Moussa Dembele's time with adidas has come to an end. Celtic's top goalscorer attempted to hide any adidas branding on his X 16+ Purechaos boots by colouring them green and writing 'Dembele' across the upper as Celtic stepped closer to the league title with a 1-1 draw in the Old Firm Derby.

Rafinha (Barcelona) adidas F50 adizero

Barcelona's Rafinha provided the most unique boot spot during the epic comeback victory at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night. Rafinha switched out of the adidas X 16.1 series to slip into a leather edition of the adidas F50 adizero, originally launched in 2014. A random choice by the Barca man, but one he'll consider as a lucky pair after Barca secured a Quarter Final Champions League date against all odds.

The revival of the classic-fold-over tongue has been prominent in recent months. Adidas have introduced the Gloro and Copa Gloro and Pantofola d'Oro's option comes in the shape of the Emidio silo; worn by Sheffield FC Ladies player Sherry McCue has she got herself on the scoresheet against Everton Ladies on Sunday.

Memphis Depay scored from the half way line in Lyon's 4-0 win over Toulouse on Sunday. The former Manchester United winger was laced up in the Under Armour Spotlight 2.0 boots as he looks to provide the brand with some return on their investment throughout his clean start in France. Scoring in such style ain't a bad way to build on your already impressive introduction into Ligue 1.

Lincoln's incredible FA Cup run came to an end on Saturday evening as they were finally beaten by Arsenal at the Emirates. The pick of the boot spotting from the National League side was Alan Power wearing the latest adidas ACE 17+ Purecontrol "Grey Camo" design. Power was one of a few players to snag a pair in time for the weekend and he'll now turn his attentions to securing promotion to the Football League.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto returned to Saint-Etienne with Metz this week wearing another of his archive football boots. The former Spurs full back has one of the most throwback boot collections in the professional game and has turned down sponsorship deals in favour of being able to wear what he desires. It was the adidas Predator adiPower for the defender this week – a "Black/Orange" colourway that was originally launch in October 2011.

AFC Wimbledon's George Francomb joined Assou-Ekotto in the Predator adiPower series this week as he dug out the "Slime/Dark Indigo" colourway to wear against Northampton Town on Saturday. The "Slime/Indigo" drop arrived a few months later than Assou-Ekotto's, in February 2012, and was worn most significantly by Robin van Persie as he went on to lift the 2011/12 Premier League Golden Boot.

Tom King (Millwall) Concave Volt +

Millwall goalkeeper Tom King was sporting the latest "Blue/White" Concave Volt + boot as his side exited the FA Cup at the Quarter Final stage on Sunday. The Concave series has become increasingly popular with goalkeepers due to the Concave element on the laces generating added power from kicking compared to any other boot on the market. Shout out to Shaun Williams in the adidas ACE 17+ Purecontrol "Grey Camo" too.

Courtney Sweetman-Kirk probably had her home kit in mind when she created her custom adidas ACE 15.1 design. The Doncaster Belles girl has whipped up an adidas favourite "Black/Red/White" combination on her boots to tie in with the home colours of her club. A top looking effort all the same thanks to the graphic print on the rear of the boot.
