Global Boot Spotting

Back in the game. As the football season enters full flow we take a look back at the past seven days to pick out our selection of the most random, custom and latest boots on show from league to league, cup to cup. Let's go...

Jesé Rodríguez (Stoke City) Nike Magista Obra II

Jese Rodriguez marked his Stoke City debut by scoring the winner against Arsenal. The on-loan Paris Saint-Germain striker had been wearing the Nike Mercurial Superfly V for his parent club in pre-season but made his Premier League bow wearing a self blacked-out pair of Nike Magista Obra II boots.

Maxim Choupo-Moting (Stoke City) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI

Another one of Stoke City's new signings was in blackout boots against Arsenal on Saturday evening. Maxim Choupo-Moting took the more professional approaching to blackouts by opting for the recently released Mercurial Vapor XI from the Tech Craft Pack.

David Meyler (Hull City) adidas Predator Mania

David Meyler went full throwback in midweek as Hull lost 3-2 at home to Wolves. The Irish midfielder laced up in the famous launch colourway of the adidas Predator Mania from way back in 2002 to score a late consolation for his side from the spot.

James Pearce (Charlton Athletic) Umbro Medusae II Elite

The second generation Umbro Medusae has been knocking around for a few weeks now but as of yet we've seen very little of it on the professional scene. Charlton's James Pearce was representing the Double Diamond this weekend as he helped his side beat Northampton 4-1 at the Valley.

James McClean (West Brom) Mercurial Superfly V Neymar

James McClean snaps up limited edition Nike Mercurials quicker than most. We've seen the West Brom midfielder wear numerous super-limited, custom and signature colourways in previous seasons, and the latest addition to his collection is the 'Written in the Stars' signature Neymar design.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Metz) Nike Air Legend R10

Another player in a signature design this week was Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Like McClean, BAE also has a big archive of throwback and custom boots, and this week he opted for the boot launched ahead of the knockout stage of the 2006 World Cup, the Nike Air Legend R10. A signature release for a certain Ronaldinho.

Julian Nagelsmann (Hoffenheim) adidas Gloro 16.1

Hoffenheim manager Julian Nagelsmann took training in the adidas Gloro 16.1 ahead of his team's Champions League qualifier with Liverpool. Nagelsmann was wearing the all blue edition from the 'Speed of Light' collection that dropped in July 2016.

Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City) New Balance Furon 3.0

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was back amongst the clean sheets at the weekend as the Foxes beat newly promoted Brighton 2-0. Schmeichel jumped the gun with his boot choice by slipping into the unreleased New Balance Furon 3.0 whiteout colourway, set to drop later this month.

Tulio de Melo (Chapecoense ) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI

Tulio de Melo was in goalscoring form wearing his custom Nike Mercurial Vapor XI colourway this week. The Chapecoense man has created a clean white and grey design. Smart and simple.

Karol Linetty (Sampdoria) Nike Mercurial Superfly V

Another player who opted for a simplistic custom Nike Mercurial Superfly V design was Karol Linty. The Sampdoria player went for a tricoloured combo of a white upper with black Dynamic Flyknit Collar and orange laces and Swooshes.
