Global Boot Spotting

Just as the season hits top gear we enter an international break. As the Premier League brought another weekend of unpredictability, we're taking a look at which players caught our eye with their footwear. The last one before the roller-coaster of deadline day. Hold on tight.

Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI

Nike shifted new Barcelona signing Ousmane Dembele straight into the latest 'Rising Fast' colourway for his official unveiling. The on-pitch collection will be worn by Nike professional players born in 1995 or later. This kid was born in 1997 and has just been bought for £135.5m...

Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI

Benjamin Mendy made his Manchester City debut on Saturday wearing a blacked out pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor XI boots. Mendy coloured in the Swooshes to hide any branding to signal his current contract with Nike has ended. It's a tactic he's adopted with success before, so he may just be after an improved deal with the brand.

Jesus Navas (Sevilla) New Balance Furon 3.0

Jesus Navas has switched straight into the all white Furon 3.0 this week. New Balance stripped their latest silos right back to basics by launching both the Visaro 2.0 and Furon 3.0 in simplistic black and white designs. The Sevilla man has however also got whiteout 'N' branding, whereas the normal version has black branding.

Gianluigi Buffon (Italy) PUMA One

Gianluigi Buffon gave us a first look at the next PUMA project as he met up with the Italy squad. The Juve stopper switched into a blacked out prototype of what we assume is the second-generation PUMA One boot. The upper looks to take on a synthetic feel with graphic design towards the rear of the boot.

Ed Upson (MK Dons) adidas COPA 17.1

Ed Upson matched up the MK Dons home strip with the launch edition of the adidas COPA 17.1 design. That oversized tongue marked the comeback of the modernised COPA series and was launched as part of the 'Red Limit' collection.

Max Gradel (Ivory Coast) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI

Ivory Coast forward Max Gradel has been wearing a blacked out edition of the Mercurial Vapor XI since the turn of the year. Before that, Gradel was sporting the latest colourways but it looks like he's still yet to agree a new deal with the Swoosh since his contract expired in 2016.

Matias Aguirregaray (Tijuana) Nike Mercurial Veloce III

Tijuana's bizarre rule of making all players wear red boots often throws up some makeshift designs. This week we saw midfielder Matias Aguirregaray wearing a self-customised version of the Mercurial Veloce III with trimmed down volt collar. Messy.

Papu Gomez (Atalanta BC) adidas Nemeziz 17+ 360 Agility

There was a popular blackout scene this week across Europe, with Atalanta's Papu Gomez flying the flag for adidas in the laceless Nemeziz 17+ 360 Agility. The most advanced adidas football boot disguised in the most traditional of colourways.

Moses Makasi (West Ham) PUMA evoPOWER 1.3 Graphic

West Ham United youngster Moses Makasi opted for the PUMA evoPOWER 1.3 Graphic against Tottenham Hotspur last week. The boot was originally launched in September 2016 and has since been replaced by the Vigor 1 silo.

Luis Cardozo (Libertad) Nike Tiempo Legend 6

Another blackout with a subtle personalised edit. Luis Cardozo was sporting a custom Nike Tiempo Legend 6 colourway this weekend as he laced up for Libertad in a black upper with orange Swooshes. Simple.
