World Cup aspirations and preparations took centre stage as the focus switched to an international break this week. From Paris to Peru, here are the players and boots that caught our eye in custom, latest and limited edition footwear.

Luka Modric (Croatia) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI

Croatia did all the hard work in their World Cup Qualifying Play-Off first leg against Greece to secure their spot in Russia next Summer. Luka Modric wore the Nike Ice Mercurial Vapor XI to help his side to a 4-1 win, before confirming their qualification with a 0-0 draw in the second leg.

Sergio Aguero (Argentina) PUMA One 17.1

When you wear a pair of gold boots in the same team as a certain Lionel Messi you need to be on your game. Sergio Aguero remained in his special edition PUMA One boots to celebrate becoming Man City's all-time leading scorer for Argentina's 1-0 win in Russia on Saturday. Aguero scoring the only goal. Job done.

Mario Gotze (Germany) Nike Hypervenom 3

Mario Gotze didn't feature in Germany's 0-0 draw with England at Wembley on Friday night but he was spotted before the game in the Nike Hypervenom 3 Fire edition. Gotze installed himself as the face of the Magista series with his World Cup winning goal in 2014 and has been wearing the silo right up until this week.

Emma Checker (Adelaide United) New Balance Furon 3.0

New Balance's latest colourways hit the pitch this week as a number of their athletes switched into the new updates. Adelaide United's Emma Checker was sporting the "Bolt/Royal Blue" Furon 3.0 drop against Perth Glory.

Joe Ledley (Wales) New Balance Visaro 2.0

Joe Ledley was also laced up in the latest New Balance pack as Wales lost 2-0 to France on Friday night. The Derby midfielder switch into the new "Black/Bolt" Visaro 2.0 silo. A smart winter duo from New Balance.

Edison Flores (Peru) Umbro Medusae II Elite

Peru are still on track to qualify for the 2018 World Cup having drawn 0-0 in New Zealand. They'll host the Kiwis on Thursday looking to seal qualification. If they do so, then Umbro will have more representation at the tournament with the National Team Kit and Edison Flores wearing the Medusae II Elite.

Ricardinho (Oxford United) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI

League One took centre stage in England at the weekend thanks to the international break, and Oxford United's Ricardinho had a few extra eyes on him as he sported his custom NikeiD Mercurial Vapor XI colourway.

Yuya Osako (Japan) Asics Menace

Japan gave a run out to their new adidas World Cup 2018 home shirt as they lost 2-1 to Brazil. Yuya Osaka also caught the eye in his red and white Asics Menace boots. A streamlined silo with strong branding on both sides.

Jess Fishlock (Melbourne City) adidas Nemeziz 17.1

Jess Fishlock was laced up in the women's exclusive colourway of the adidas Nemeziz 17.1 this week. The red and white colourway packed a strong look upon release and provided an aesthetically pleasing alternative to the men's black and white drop.
