New drops hit up pitches worldwide this week as adidas, Nike and PUMA all threw new projects into the mix. Predator, Future, Fire & Ice and all things nice were the order of the weekend as the latest colourways met your usual bag of unreleased boots, custom designs and limited editions.
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) PUMA ONE 17.1
Sergio Aguero gave a scoring start to his new PUMA One 17.1 colourway as his penalty set City on their way to another big three points at Huddersfield on Sunday. Aguero was joined by all PUMA One players in the "Atomic Blue" update after switching out of the "Black/Silver" drop.
Kevin Friend (Referee) Nike Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra
Refs in limited edition Nike football boots. That's modern football right there. One for #CelebRefs for sure. All Premier League referees supported Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign at the weekend, but none did it in as much style as Kevin Friend wearing one of just 2,500 pairs of Nike Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra boots released.
Kevin Mirallas (Everton) New Balance Furon 3.0
Everton's season went from bad to worse on Sunday as they were hammered by Southampton at St Mary's. If it's any consolation for Kevin Mirallas, and it absolutely isn't, the latest New Balance Furon 3.0 colourway looked decent with his Everton kit. Chin up, Kev.
Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) adidas Predator
One player who is no longer in New Balance boots is Aaron Ramsey. The Arsenal midfielder looks to have re-signed with adidas having worn the ACE in the last few weeks, before switching into the new Predator 18+ on Sunday against Burnley.
Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) PUMA Future 18.1
PUMA were also making noise this week as they launched their next-generation concept. The Future 18.1 boot was given to Antoine Griezmann to debut, and he threw them straight into the spotlight with a stunning goal against Roma in the Champions League.
Rafael Baca (Cruz Azul) adidas Predator 18+
Adidas launched the return of the Predator in a reasonably traditional colourway, but that wasn't enough for Rafael Baca. The Cruz Azul man got hold an all-black design, most probably used during the testing phase of the boot while adidas were trying to keep things under wraps.
Jenna McCormick (Adelaide United) Concave Volt +
There was a limited edition run out for Concave this week as Jenna McCormick was sporting the Volt + Mr Cenz design. Styled by the world-renowned Graffiti Artist, the boot dropped in restricted numbers and a unique aesthetic.
Luka Modric (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra
Nike dropped two more Nike Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra designs as part of their 'Fire & Ice' collection last week. Both colourways sold out in a matter of hours but the Swoosh held a pair back for Luka Modric, who laced up in the 'Ice' design against Malaga on Saturday.
Moussa Dembele (Celtic) adidas X 17+ Purespeed
A number of adidas players jumped the gun this weekend by switching into the upcoming Skystalker Pack. Celtic's Moussa Dembele joined Luis Suarez in the new X 17 design, which will drop this week to complement the Predator 18+ colourway.
Filipe Luiz (Atletico Madrid) adidas Nemeziz 17+
Filipe Luiz was also showcasing the new Skystalker pack as he slipped into the adidas Nemeziz 17+ design in the week. The new Nemeziz colourway takes on an alternative aesthetic to the previous designs with a more low-key feel. Also dropping this week.
Nicolas Benezet (Guingamp) adidas Nemeziz 17.1
Nicolas Benezet was sporting a pair of unique adidas Nemeziz 17.1 boots this week. The Guingamp midfielder has had his boots customised with some bespoke cartoon artwork created by Orravan Design. The same studio responsible for similar designs on Lukas Podolski and Bakary Sako's footwear.
