Early season silverware, the return of the Football League, and the final few pre-season preparations. It's August, and as next season becomes this season we're taking a look at which players caught our eyes over the past seven days when it came to their footwear...

Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) Nike Mercurial Vapor 360

The Nike "Raised on Concrete" pack was in the spotlight at the weekend as the majority of Swoosh players switched into the new collection for the Community Shield at Wembley. Chelsea's Tammy Abraham was sporting the "Grey/Crimson" Mercurial Vapor 360.

Victoria (Brazil) Nike Mercurial Superfly V

Brazil's Victoria switched into a design that marked the achievements of a fellow professional last week. The colourway worn here was released to mark Lieke Martens' incredible year of achievements in 2017. The signature 'Lieke' Mercurial Superfly V design featured the name of the Dutch star on the instep instead of the usual 'NIKE' branding.

John Stones (Manchester City) Nike Hypervenom 3

Manchester City kicked off their season with some early silverware as Sergio Aguero's brace was enough to see off Chelsea 2-0 at Wembley to lift the Community Shield. John Stones was amongst a number of Nike players wearing the new "Raised on Concrete" Hypervenom 3 colourway.

Reiss Nelson (Arsenal) adidas Glitch 18

Reiss Nelson continues to take advantage of the versatile adidas Glitch 18 silo this pre-season. The Arsenal youngster switched into the most recent "Devo Skins" pack this week as his side beat Chelsea 6-5 on penalties in Dublin.

Jason Puncheon (Crystal Palace) adidas Predator Accelerator "Electricity"

Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon has managed to get his hands on the adidas Predator Accelerator "Electricity" re-release. Just 1999 pairs of the limited edition design dropped last month, and Puncheon becomes one of the first top flight pros to sport a pair on pitch.

Luis Chavez (Tijuana) adidas X 18.1

Regular readers of this series will know that Mexican side Tijuana have a club policy that encourages all of their player to wear red boots to match their home kit colours. This naturally leads to some smart custom designs, and some botched ones too. You can decide which category Luis Chavez's X 18.1 boots fall into.

Josh Magennis (Bolton) Umbro Velocita 4

Josh Magennis was on target to give his Umbro Velocita 4 boots a scoring start as Bolton sprung an opening day surprise in the Championship by beating West Brom 2-1 at The Hawthornes. The fourth-gen boot will also be worn by Michail Antonio when the Premier League season kicks off this week.

Marco Verratti (PSG) Nike PhantomVSN

Marco Verratti has joined the newly assembled Nike PhantomVSN squad for the 2018/19 season. The PSG midfielder spent the last campaign in the Hypervenom series but the Swoosh appear to have lured him into a boot that fits their own agenda far better.

Sam Tawharu (New Zealand) Nike Premier 2.0

Summer football always sees an influx of players opting for the Nike Premier series. Sam Tawharu has matched her New Zealand kit up with the black and white colourway that was inspired by the split design that featured on the Tiempo at Euro 2012.
