As is often the case, a big week of boot releases was followed by a big weekend of fixtures across Europe. A new generation COPA, colour updates from PUMA, unreleased refreshes and the odd throwback on the derby stage. Let's roll...
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) PUMA ONE 19.1
Manchester is dominantly blue this week as Manchester City bossed their cross-city rivals for 90 minutes on Sunday. Sergio Aguero got himself on the scoresheet wearing the latest PUMA ONE 19.1 colourway from the "Attack Pack" which dropped earlier in the week. 3-1. Job done.
Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund) PUMA Future 2.1
Another PUMA player to give a scoring start to his new colourway at the weekend was Marco Reus. The German notched a brace in the "Attack Pack" Future boot as his side twice came from behind to beat Bayern Munich in a crunch game at the top of the Bundesliga.
Paulo Dybala (Juventus) adidas COPA 19+
The big story from the week was the launch of the new generation adidas COPA 19+ boot. A leather and laceless version of the iconic silhouette. Dybala teased an all black version against United in the Champions League before launching the official colourway in Milan on Thursday. He gave them a first run out three days laters, also in Milan, as Juve beat AC 2-0 on Sunday.
Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) adidas Nemeziz 18+
The COPA 19+ will form part of a wider adidas colourway collection this week. Corresponding updates are expected to drop imminently, but Roberto Firmino jumped the gun by wearing the Nemeziz 18+ from the "Initiator Pack" as Liverpool beat Fulham 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday.
Mo Salah (Liverpool) adidas X 18.1
It appears that Mo Salah also missed that message from adidas as he too gave an early debut to the next X 18.1 colourway. A blast of traditional Predator vibes is about to land on the speed silo, and it matches it very nicely with the Liverpool home kit. Can't blame the man for wanting to switch a little earlier than scheduled.
Marcos Acuna (Sporting Lisbon) Nike T90 Laser
Marcos Acuna took things back to 2007 on Thursday night by lacing up in the first generation Nike T90 Laser against Arsenal in the Europa League. The Sporting Lisbon man wore the "Silver/Black/Blue" combo as his side played out a goalless draw at The Emirates.
John Fleck (Sheffield United) Nike Air Zoom T90 Supremacy
John Fleck went one better by wearing the Nike Air Zoom T90 Supremacy from 2006 in the Sheffield derby on Friday night. The Scotsman has already worn a few throwbacks this season but switched into a colourway that matched the Blades' home kit for the 0-0 draw at Bramall Lane.
Andres Iniesta (Vissel Kobe) Asics DS Light X-Fly 4
Andres Iniesta has begun life as an official Asics ambassador in the J-League. The former Barcelona midfielder was wearing the DS Light X-Fly 4 model as he went up against Fernando Torres' Sagan Tosu at the weekend.
Nemanja Matic (Manchester United) adidas COPA 19.1
Another player to join the new squad of COPA 19 players is Nemanja Matic. The United midfielder was wearing the laced 19.1 edition in the Manchester Derby on Sunday. The 19.1 version switches the iconic three stripes to the outstep of the boot rather than on the instep of the laceless 19+ design.
Andreas Pereira (Manchester United) Nike Mercurial Superfly HeritageiD
Another United midfielder to catch our eye this week was Andreas Pereira. The youngster was sporting a pair of the Mercurial Superfly HeritageiD boots that drew design from the 1998 R9 Mercurial. That iconic aesthetic is one that has attracted the interest of numerous pro players including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Arsenal) adidas Predator 18+
Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan also provided a first look at an upcoming colourway from the adidas "Initiator Pack" as he slipped into the all red Predator 18+ design to train in the week ahead of the Gunners' 1-1 draw with Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
