The Third Round of the FA Cup rounded off the congested festive period for players on British shores, while their continental compadres have been enjoying a some warm weather training. With a new year comes new boots as brands begin their 2019 roll outs. Here's what grabbed our attention over the last week...
Haji Wright (Schalke) PUMA Future 19.1
It looks like Schalke's warm weather training session in Benidorm was the place to be this week for some decent new boot spotting. First up was US Striker Haji Wright who gave us an early glance at the launch colourway of the PUMA Future 19.1. Landing in bright orange with blue trim, it's certainly a stand out debut look.
Ralf Faehrmann (Schalke 04) adidas Predator 19.1
Next up from Benidorm was captain Ralf Faehrmann who turned up in the next on-pitch colourway of the adidas Predator 19.1. Landing with a predominantly blue upper, there's some nice silver trim with hints of red across the vamp. Stay tuned for this drop.
Charlie Austin (Southampton) Nike Mercurial Vapor
It was a case of new year, old boot for Southampton striker Charlie Austin as he rocked up to training this week in the Mercurial Vapor I in the silver and red colourway. Austin reverted to his standard Mercurial Vapor XII for the Saints' FA Cup Third Round draw with Derby.
Carlos Queiroz (Iran) Nike Tiempo Legend IV
Iran manager Carlos Queiroz scored some style points this week by combining his training attire with 2012's Tiempo Legend IV, which dropped originally as part of the Nike Clash Collection for EURO 2012. Iran are currently preparing for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in Doha.
Yannick Bolasie (Aston Villa) Nike Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra
Yannick Bolasie often turns out in some tidy throwback options from Nike's back catalogue, and he hasn't let us down again this week as he arrived for Aston Villa training in the much-coveted Nike Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra. Bolasie sat out Villa's Third Round loss to Swansea, as the Welsh outfit got a measure of revenge for their boxing day defeat.
Lee Frecklington (Lincoln City) Nike CTR360 Maestri III
As a League Two player, it's not everyday you get to go up against Premier League opposition. Lincoln City's Lee Frecklington took the opportunity to stand out – literally – in a pair of CTR360s from 2013. Part of the Nike Flash Pack they featured reflective elements on the uppers. Sadly it didn't help Lincoln as they were beaten 2-1 by Everton.
Will Vaulks (Rotherham United) adidas Copa Gloro 19
The adidas Copa 19 has received some massive support on pitch since its drop late last year, but as Rotherham took on Manchester City we got a glimpse of the rarely seen Copa Gloro 19 on the feet of the Championship side's midfielder, Will Vaulks. They lost 7-0... but we won't mention that.
Javi Martinez (Bayern Munich) adidas Copa 19.1
Back to warm weather training, this time with Bayern Munich as they visited Doha. It was here where Javi Martinez was spotted in an upcoming colour drop for the Copa 19. So far we've only seen the revolutionary boot in it's launch colourway (if you don't count all the glimpses of it blacked out during testing) and this is an interesting new look.
Maximilian Philipp (Borussia Dortmund) adidas Nemeziz 18+
Another German team enjoying some warmer climates, and this time it's Dortmund in Marbella as forward Maximilian Philipp shows off the new paint job for the Nemeziz. That'll drop as part of the next on-pitch pack along with the Predator, Copa and X.
Oscar Wendt (Borussia Monchengladbach) adidas X 18.1
Completing the new looks for the adidas silos, Borussia Monchengladbach's left back Oscar Wendt turned up to training in the next X design. Red and blue for the speed silo to see out winter in.
Josip Drmić (Borussia Monchengladbach) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII
Couldn't miss out this interesting offering, once again from the Borussia Monchengladbach training session. Looks like Josip Drmić has taken a pair of Mercurial Vapors and given them a wild custom job. Can't decide if they look decent or if his kid got hold of them with some crayons...
