Suit up because you're smack bang in the middle of the business end of the season. Clubs, players and brands already have one eye on next season and as the next-generation projects emerge on training pitches, they're joined by your usual lot of throwback, limited edition and custom designs.
Steve Cook (Bournemouth) Nike T90 Laser
Unsurprisingly, the re-release of the Nike T90 Laser I has been a huge hit with professional players. Despite its limited edition status, the remake of the first generation boot has been taken on by numerous top flight players, including Bournemouth's Steve Cook who we're sure won't mind us saying is old enough to have owned a pair in his earlier pro days.
Will Hughes (Watford) adidas Copa Mundial
Watford's Will Hughes took things back to throwback town earlier in the week by lacing up in the whiteout edition of the iconic adidas Copa Mundial. The black and white colourway will always be the OG of football boots, but the whiteout was a classy addition to the most esteemed silo of all time. Nice to see them still relevant in modern day Premier League football.
Emre Can (Juventus) Nike Mercurial Superfly VII
Emre Can provided the sharpest look yet at the next-generation Nike Mercurial Superfly VII this week. The Juventus midfielder laced up in the unreleased silhouette in training but the boot will remain blackout until Nike finalise their plans. Don't expect an imminent release just yet.
Ben Mendy (Manchester City) adidas X 18+
Benjamin Mendy waved goodbye to the Champions League on Wednesday night as Tottenham knocked out Manchester City on away goals. The French defender was sporting a custom version of the adidas X 18.1 which featured artwork by French artist Silni.
Christian Marrugo (Millonarios) adidas Predator Accelerator 25Y
Another limited edition re-release which has grabbed huge on-pitch time at the top level this season is the adidas Predator Accelerator 25Y boot in gold. The stunning re-make was a tribute to Zinedine Zidane on the year that adidas celebrate their 25th anniversary of the acclaimed silo.
Bjorn Tore Kvarme (Liverpool Legends) adidas Predator Powerswerve
Bjorn Tore Kvarme turned out for the Liverpool Legends 'Sean Cox Fundraiser' match between the Republic of Ireland XI and Liverpool FC Legends at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin wearing one of the most popular post-Mania Predators – the 2007 Powerswerve edition.
Niall Quinn (Ireland Legends) adidas Predator Accelerator
Big Niall Quinn went one better by dusting off a pair of original adidas Predator Accelerators from 1998. The Irish striker must have one of just a few left in circulation, especially in working order. Re-release them all you want, and they'll sell out every time, but you can't beat the original.
Stephen Hunt (Ireland Legends) PUMA King XL
These legend games are always bankers for a bit of throwback boot spotting and this clash didn't disappoint. Where there's middle-age spread and grey hair, there's retro boots. Stephen Hunt digging out the PUMA King XL as he chased bit Quinny's flick ons.
Eljif Elmas (Fenerbahce) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII
Fenerbahce's Eljif Elmas went to extreme measures to overcome his blister problem by dismantling the entire heels of his Nike Mercurial Vapor XII boots and replacing them with bandaging to ease the pressure. One step away from wearing flip flops. Good effort.
Lee Evans (Wigan) Nike Hypervenom
Wigan look set to retain their place in the Championship for next season with a superb six points over the Easter Weekend, including three massive ones away at promotion chasing Leeds United. Midfielder Lee Evans was the pick of the boot spotting action, lacing up in the first generation Nike Hypervenom.
Lukas Podolski (Vissel Kobe) adidas Glitch 19
German World Cup winning legend Lukas Podolski continued to mix up his boot choices this week by slipping on the adidas Glitch 19 for Vissel Kobe. The outerskin Podolski opted for was inspired by the second generation F50 boot – a design that Podolski wore 15 years ago in 2004.
