Global Boot Spotting

Another week full of throwback classics, custom creations, new releases and special editions courtesy – on the most part – of the international scene. With competitions being contested on several continents, let’s see who caught our eye this week. It’s Monday, it’s Boot Spotting, Let’s go…

Roberto Firmino (Brazil) adidas Nemeziz 19.1

Roberto Firmino has been wearing the adidas "Inner Game" Nemeziz recently and he did so again in Brazil's goalless draw against Venezuela in the Copa America this week. The colourway would definitely lend itself better to Brazil's 100th Anniversary shirt, but it still looked good on the Liverpool man.

Mohamed Salah (Egypt) adidas X 19.1

From one Liverpool forward to another, and Mo Salah was spotted in the second half of the adidas "Inner Game" Pack, as got Egypt's AFCON journey underway in the X 19.1. Still unavailable in Europe, the new X looks just as stunning on pitch as it did in the box.

Marta (Brazil) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII

Brazil's veteran striker Marta made history this week as she became the highest scorer in World Cup history, notching her 17th goal in her side's 1-0 win against Italy. And she did so once again wearing her specially customised Mercurials, which carry the symbol of 'Go Equal', a project that seeks gender equality in sports.

James Maddison (England U21) PUMA One 19.1

England's Euro U21 was over before it started with losses to France and Romania. During the France match, James Maddison wore a specially customised pair of PUMA ONE 19.1 that featured a dedication to 5-year old Sophie Taylor, a close friend of Maddison's who sadly lost her battle with cancer in January.

Paulinho (Guangzhou Evergrande) Nike BHM Mercurial Vapor XI

Former Spurs and Barcelona man Paulinho slipped on the Nike BHM Mercurial Vapor XI from 2018 for his side's AFC Champions League round of 16 first leg against Shandong Luneng – a match Evergrande won 2-1.

Lee Min-a (South Korea) Mizuno Morelia Neo II

South Korea crashed to their third straight defeat of the Women's World Cup, losing 2-1 to Norway and sealing their exit from the tournament. During the match, Korea midfielder Lee Min-a came on as a substitute and she was wearing the recently released "Caribbean Sea" Mizuno Morelia Neo II.

Hassan Al-Haydos (Qatar) Nike Mercurial Victory NJR

Qatar are competing in the Copa America as one of two invitational teams, and following an opening draw against Paraguay, they took to the pitch against Colombia with high hopes. Midfielder Hassan Al-Haydos wore 2017's Nike Mercurial Victory VI NJR 'Written in the Stars' for the occasion. Qatar lost 1-0 to a late strike.

Danell Cyrus (Trinidad and Tobago) adidas Predator 19+ 25Y

As well as the Copa America, the CONCACAF Gold Cup kicked off this week, and Trinidad and Tobago defender Danell Cyrus wore the Zidane x Beckham Predator 19+ that launched as part of the special '25 Year of Predator' collection for his sides opening defeat to Panama.

Rikako Kobayashi (Japan) adidas Gloro 16.1

Rikako Kobayashi played in Japan's defeat to England in what appeared to be a pair of adidas Gloro 16.1, although the vamp of the boot seemed to have more stitching than the clean vamp of the standard Gloro 16.1.

Yuki Muto (Urawa Red Diamonds) Mizuno Rebula 3

Another AFC Champions League round of 16 first leg match, this time between Urawa Red Diamonds and Ulsan Hyundai, and in it Urawa Reds attacker Yuki Muto was seen wearing the recently released next-generation Rebula 3.

Teigen Allen (Australia) Mizuno Morelia Neo II FT

The Matildas suffered penalty heartache in the last 16 round of the Women's World Cup, but in the build up to their knockout game with Norway Teigen Allen became the first player to be spotted in the limited edition Morelia Neo which was released as a signature colourway for Fernando Torres.

Mahmoud Dahoud (Germany) PUMA Future 4.1

Germany youngster Mahmoud Dahoud has laced up in the next-generation PUMA Future 4.1 blackout to provide some feedback to the brand during the EURO U21 tournament. The unreleased design features a lo-cut collar but can also be expected to be drop in a mid-cut collar.
