Global Boot Spotting

With the 2019/20 kick off right around the corner, players have been quick to test out new releases, custom creations, special editions and throwbacks, looking for that perfect fit to get back to business, and it’s given us plenty to see for this week’s edition of Boot Spotting. Let’s see who’s caught our eye…

Keanu Baccus (Western Sydney Wanderers) Nike Phantom VSN

The Phantom VSN debuted this week in its 'New Lights' colourway, Nike's on-pitch pack for the season kick off, and it was spotted on the feet of Western Sydney Wanderers' young attacking midfielder Keanu Baccus in the Australian side's 2-1 loss to Leeds.

Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) Nike Mercurial Superfly VII

The New Mercurial has presented new levels of personalisation thanks to Nike By You, and Jadon Sancho was spotted training in his specially customised pair this week. The rear foot graphic displays his name, along with other details of his choosing in grey on a white base.

Christian Pulisic (Chelsea) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII

Next up in the personalisation game is Chelsea new boy Christian Pulisic, with the American displaying his own pair of Mercurial Vapors with his name in blue along with the ol' Stars and Stripes on a white base.

Leroy Sane (Manchester City) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII

Completing the hat-trick of personalised Mercurials, and following their appearance in training, Leroy Sane took to the pitch in Manchester City's game against West Ham in his own Mercurial Vapor, complete with pink detailing. City won 4-1.

Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich) adidas Nemeziz 19+

Earlier this month adidas hooked up with Marvel to release a special Nemeziz 19+ with Spider-Man stylings. Serge Gnabry is the only player to be named as wearing them, and sure enough he was spotted training at the Dignity Health Sports Centre in a pair.

Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) Nike Mercurial Superfly VII

Kylian Mbappe got some minutes under his belt in PSG's pre-season friendly against Bundesliga outfit, Nurnberg, which ended 1-1. Interestingly he played in the 'New Lights' colourway of the Mercurial Superfly rather than his own personalised pair.

Luis Alberto (SS Lazio) adidas Predator 25Y ZZ

Lazio's Luis Alberto has been training in last year's adidas release that celebrated 25 years of the Predator, and he opted specifically for the gold Zinedine Zidane accelerator, which has proven to be far more popular than the Beckham-inspired Precision. Sorry Dave.

Kiko Casilla (Leeds United) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII

Championship side Leeds United have been enjoying a pre-season tour Down Under, and keeper Kiko Casilla has been spotted wearing the Nike Mercurial Vapor XII from the "Euphoria Gold" Pack that arrived at the end of last season.

Regan Slater (Sheffield United) adidas Nitrocharge 1.0

Premier League Sheffield United's Regan Slater decided to turn the clock back to 2013 during his preseason, donning the "Vivid Red/Electricity" Nitrocharge 1.0 for the Blades' match against Real Betis.

Adama Traore (Wolverhampton Wanderers) Nike Mercurial Superfly VI

Wolves overcame Manchester City in the Asia Cup final this week, winning on penalties after a stalemate over 90 minutes. For the occasion, Adama Traore wore the special edition Nike Mercurial Superfly 'LVL UP' from last season.

Sebastiano Esposito (Inter Milan) Nike Mercurial Superfly VI

Inter Milan youngster Sebastiano Esposito converted his Nike Mercurial Superfly VI boots into a slip on design by removing the laces. The Superfly isn't designed as a laceless boot and does need the laces to tighten the lock, however Esposito may have wide, or chunky feet to be able to use them as a slip on.

Moritz Volz (RB Leipzig) Nike Tiempo Legend V

Former Fulham and Arsenal full-back Moritz Volz, now a coach for RB Leipzig, showed that either A) he has nice taste in a throwback pair of boots, or B) He hasn't got a new pair since he ended his playing career. This because he turned out for preseason training in 2014's "Turquoise/White/Hyper Crimson/Black" Tiempo Legend V.
