Global Boot Spotting

New releases, special editions, throwback classics and custom creations. The last seven days of football have produced it all. As the domestic season is rudely interrupted by a premature international break we're taking a look back at the week to see who was wearing what.

Yusuf Yazici (Lille) adidas X 99.1

Combining the DNA of the adizero 99g boot from 2015 with the modern day X, adidas recently launched the X 99.1. And Lille's attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici was quick to jump into a pair as his side beat St Etienne 3-0.

Lucas Moura (Tottenham Hotspur) adidas X 99.1

Another player who was quick to get into the limited edition lightweight specialist was Tottenham's Brazilian attacker Lucas Moura. Moura trained in the X 99.1 ahead of the North London derby, although he was an unused substitute in the stalemate.

Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal) adidas Nemeziz 19+ x Marvel

A player who did make it on to the pitch for the North London derby however was Arsenal's record signing Nicolas Pepe, and he did so in the Spider-Man-inspired Nemeziz 19+ x Marvel. Originally released at the beginning of July, it was only former Gunner Serge Gnabry that was scheduled to wear these special editions on-pitch, but Pepe obviously took a shine to them.

Hector Bellerin (Arsenal) PUMA King Platinum

Sticking with Arsenal, and as Hector Bellerin continues his rehabilitation, nearing a return to action, he's switched into the PUMA King Platinum. Launched back in the beginning of June, the King Platinum updates the original King design with the latest in football performance technology, while still maintaining the classic aesthetic that has been loved for generations. Bellerin still styling.

Javier Aquino (Tigres) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII

The new Mercurial, with its rear foot graphics, has provided another level of personalisation options, but it seems that still wasn't enough for Javier Aquino as he had some unique details of his own added separately to the "New Lights" release.

Wei Shihao (Guangzhou Evergrande) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII

Guangzhou Evergrande's Wei Shihao showed off the potential for what is available with the Mercurial on Nike By You with an unreleased white and grey colourway for his Vapor XIII. It was a nice highlight in an otherwise drab 0-0 against Kashima Antlers in the AFC Champions League.

Paulinho (Guangzhou Evergrande) Nike Mercurial Vapor XI BHM

Another highlight from that bore draw against Kashima Antlers was Tottenham and Barcelona old boy Paulinho in the BHM Mercurial from 2018. The design featured different coloured line graphics on a black canvas to represent the roots of the different communities coming together for Black History Month.

Yianni Perkatis (Sydney United 58 FC) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

Safe to say things probably didn't quite go according to plan for Yianni Perkatis in the Sydney derby this week. Not only did they lose 7-1 to the Western Sydney Wanderers, but he also got his marching orders. And yet it all started so well when he laced up his special "white/gold" Tiempo Legend IV from 2011...

Yohan Cabaye (Saint-Étienne) adidas Predator Accelerator

Yohane Cabaye did something that's guaranteed to catch our eye this week when he pulled on the 2018 remake of the adidas Predator Accelerator. Sure it was only for training, but we'll still take that all day long.

Patrick McEleney (Dundalk) Nike Premier 2.0

Despite losing the tongue, there was still no mistaking the gold Nike Premier 2.0 on the feet of Patrick McEleney. Currently flying high at the top of the League of Ireland Premier Division with another 3 points courtesy of a 5-0 victory over UCD, this particular colourway currently seems quite fitting for the Dundalk midfielder.

Firat Aydinus (Referee) adidas F50 adizero TRX

Finishing up with a bit of appreciation for the man in the middle, with Firat Aydinus matching up his ref's attire with the "glow/green/zest" colourway of a pair of F50 adizero TRX from 2014 for the Turkish Super Lig match between Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor. Touché sir.
