International break over and we're back to the good stuff as a proper weekend returned. On the boots front it was all about limited edition collaborations, special edition signatures and the latest colourways, and that's what we've had our eyes on over the past seven days, as well as the usual bunch of throwbacks and customs.
Antoine Griezmann (Barcelona) PUMA x BALR Future 4.1
It didn't take long for Antoine Griezmann to get on the scoresheet wearing his new boots. The Barca man struck after 13 minutes in his side's 3-0 win over Eibar when he debuted the limited edition PUMA x BALR Future 4.1 collaboration.
Leo Messi (Barcelona) adidas Nemeziz Messi 15Y
Griezmann's Barcelona team mate Lionel Messi was also on the scoresheet in new boots on Saturday as the Argentine notched a first goal in his signature adidas Nemeziz Messi 15Y – a design which was launched last week to mark the 15th anniversary of his professional debut.
Sam Kerr (Chicago Red Stars) Nike Mercurial Superfly Dream Speed
Sam Kerr is one of only three players flying the flag for the Nike Dream Speed series. The Australian has earned the honour of lacing up the special edition boot alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe and duly notched the only goal in her side's win over Portland Thorns.
Khouma Babacar (Lecce) Nike x Virgil Abloh Mercurial 360
Khouma Babacar opted for some limited edition fire at the weekend as he slipped into the Nike Mercurial 360 collaboration with Off-White's Virgil Abloh. It was one of the most desirable special editions of 2018 and played a huge part in the streetwear-meets-football trend.
Herbie Kane (Liverpool) adidas Predator Instinct
Liverpool youngster Herbie Kane took us back to January 2015 this week by lacing up in the "Solar Red/White/Night Flash" adidas Predator Instinct. The Instinct was the final Pred before it was replaced by the Ace for a couple of years and this colourways was one of the trippiest across any Predator model.
Adama Traore (Wolves) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII
Adama Traore has been no stranger to custom Mercurial colourways down the years, and the Wolves winger has taken advantage of Nike's new 'Nike By You' platform by creating his own Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII design along with the word 'Beast' on the instep. Probably something to do with him being massive and rapid.
Henrique (Vasco da Gama) Nike Mercurial Vapor 360
Vasco da Gama's Henrique turned out a pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor 360's from the Heritage Collection last week. The pack was launched ahead of the 2018 World Cup to celebrate iconic Mercurial colourways that had featured in previous tournaments. Henrique's silver design was taken from the silver Mercurial worn at the 2002 World Cup in Japan & South Korea.
Ayoze Perez (Leicester City) adidas X 99.1
Leicester continued their march up the Premier League table on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Burnley. Ayoze Perez was the pick of the boot spotting action wearing the limited edition, stripped-back adidas X 99.1 – a boot launched as a tribute to the iconic adidas 99g boot.
Maximilian Mittelstaedt (Hertha Berlin) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII
Another player who took customisation into his own hands last week was Hertha Berlin's Maximilian Mittelstaedt who has whipped up a slick colourway along with his initials and squad number.
Marques Allan (Napoli) Nike T90 Laser
Yeah, we're still waiting for Nike to get back to dropping T90 re-releases. The arrival of the first generation re-make earlier this year was one of the most hyped limited editions of 2019 and had us begging for more. A surprising amount of players have sported them on pitch, especially considering the fact that only 2,000 paris were launched.
