Global Boot Spotting

There must be some nostalgia in the air as we prepare to embark on a new decade as the last week of football provided a whole host of retro boot spotting. Throw in a glimpse at a next-generation launch colourway and your usual mixed bag of customs and limited editions and we've got ourselves another Monday. Let's go...

Paul Pogba (Man United) adidas Predator 19+ PP

A cameo in a 2-0 defeat to bottom of the league Watford probably wasn't what adidas had in mind when they released the Pogba Season Six Predator boot last week. To be fair to the Frenchman he did give United some sort of spark and for adidas it's good to see one of their lead men back in the mix.

Lewis Cook (Bournemouth) adidas Predator Mania

Unsurprisingly, the re-released Predator Mania has been a popular limited edition capture for a number of professional players. That colourway, fold-over tongue and rubber fins were always nailed on to be one of the releases of the year, and Bournemouth's Lewis Cook, a player who grew up admiring Beckham in the Mania, has snagged a pair to train in.

Aaron Berzel (1860 Munich) Nike CTR360 Maestri III

Every time you see a player wearing the CTR you're begging Nike to bring it back aren't you? The iconic control boot criminally only lasted three series and if Nike are thinking about upping their re-make editions then we're banging on their door in a pair of all three CTR generations.

Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) PUMA King Platinum

Pep Guardiola was given the honour of unveiling PUMA's latest King Platinum colourway last week. The Manchester City boss stepped out to take training in the blue drop before his side beat fellow Premier League title chasers Leicester City at the Etihad.

Diego Reyes (Tigres) Nike T90 Laser II

Tigres defender Diego Reyes raided his archive last week to train in the much missed Nike T90 Laser II. The second-generation Laser boot was a true shooting icon and after Nike brought back the first-ten in 2019, we're hoping for more re-release action in 2020.

Luis Figo (Goldstandard) Nike T90 Laser III

Luis Figo wearing the Nike T90 Laser III is a sight you love to see. The Portuguese legend was back in action over the weekend to take on a team of Spanish Legends. The third-generation boot will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its launch in 2020 and that's a good enough reason for a comeback if you're asking us.

Vicente (Spain Legends) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

Another player in throwback Nike boots this week was Vicente. The former Brighton and Valencia man was in action for the Spain Legends team up against Figo and he slipped into the Nike Tiempo Legend IV series for the game. These legends games are always bankers for some retro boot spotting aren't they?

Nils Roseler (VVV Venlo) adidas ACE 17.1

Another discontinued silo on show this week was on the feet of Nils Roseler. The VVV Venlo man was in the lo-cut adidas ACE 17.1 in the trademark "Red/Black/White" drop. At the time, this was the closest thing you could get to the already retired Predator, so naturally it was a popular choice amongst all players.

Luke Norris (Colchester United) Nike Premier 2.0

Turning up to Old Trafford in gold boots is a statement that we've got a lot of time for. Colchester United's Luke Norris was the man in the golden Nike Premiers as Colchester fell to a League Cup upset against Manchester United.

Matti Steinmann (Wellington Phoenix) New Balance Furon 2020

There was some next-generation style on show in the A-League last week as Wellington Phoenix's Matti Steinmann provided a glimpse at the launch colourway of the upcoming New Balance Furon 2020 boots. Expect an imminent release at the turn of the new decade.

Alvaro Morata (Atletico Madrid) adidas Predator Mania 19.1

There aren't many limited edition adidas boots that get past Alvaro Morata. The Atletico Madrid frontman has already played in the re-released Mania earlier this month, and he was back at it, and back on the scoresheet in the Predator Mania 19.1 in his side's 2-1 win at Real Betis on Sunday.
