Football finally returned in the U.S, and a week of action across the globe has provided us with plenty for Boot Spotting, as we bring you the best of the latest and upcoming releases and classic throwbacks. Let’s see who made the cut…
Cameron Devlin (Wellington Phoenix) New Balance Tekela v3
Version three of the Tekela is New Balance's first-ever laceless boot, and hot on the heels of the “Navy Eclipse/Silver Metallic” launch colourway, it was released in the “White/Chromatic Yellow/Neo Flame” that was part of the Limited Edition 'Rise & Reign' Pack. It was this version that Wellington Phoenix's Cammy Devlin was spotted training in this week.
Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) Nike Phantom VNM
As we pointed out recently, Raheem Sterling’s contract with Nike appears to have expired, meaning the Manchester City winger is free to wear what he wants. While he’s been spotted training in the upcoming prototype adidas boot in training (more on that later) for City’s game against Brighton he opted for the Nike Phantom VNM from the Euphoria pack. Scored a hat-trick in ‘em ’n all.
Juan Jesus (AS Roma) Mizuno Morelia Neo 3 Beta
The Mizuno Morelia Neo III β was released recently and the launch colourway was quickly followed up by the 'Reach Beyond' pack look, which wrapped it in blue. Roma's Brazilian defender, Juan Jesus gave them a run out in training this week.
Guillaume Gillet (Sporting Charleroi) adidas Predator Precision
Veteran Guillaume Gillet recently swapped France for Belgium, completing the transfer from Lens to Charleroi, returning to his homeland. And to make a good early impression in training, the midfielder opted for the rerelease of the adidas Predator Precision DB. Good start in our eyes...
Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal) New Balance Furon v5
Nicolas Pepe continues to switch between boots and brands, and this week he was back in New Balance, lacing up in the Furon v5 first for training, and then for the North London derby.
Victor Ulloa (Inter Miami) adidas Predator 18.1
Hard to miss the adidas Predator 18.1 'Energy Mode' colourway on the feet of Inter Miami's Victor Ulloa for their 2-1 loss in the opening round of the MLS is Back tournament. The boot was originally released ahead of the 2018 World Cup and its vibrant colourway paid tribute to the iconic "Electricity" Accelerator from 1998.
Harry Winks (Tottenham Hotspur) adidas 11Pro
Doing his best Toni Kroos, Harry Winks laced up in the adidas 11Pro for training this week. The midfielder is usually a die-hard Predator wearer, and sure enough he was back in his Predator Mania 19.1 for the North London derby. But he enjoyed his brief dalliance with the 11Pro while it lasted.
Harry Maguire (Manchester United) Unreleased PUMA boot
PUMA teased the return of speed this week, suggesting that their latest prototype is due for release sometime soon. Now, Harry Maguire's hardly a player that comes to mind when speed is mentioned, but he's the latest player to give the boot a run out, this time in what looks to be a leather variation.
Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) Unreleased Nike boot
Sticking with United, and Maguire's teammate, Bruno Fernandes has been grabbing lots of headlines for his exceptional performances of late, but that hasn't stopped him veering away from his tried and trusted Mercurials to test out Nike's latest prototype. Could it signal a permanent switch upon release?
Reuben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea) adidas Unreleased boot
Completing the 'big three' trio, and Reuben Loftus-Cheek was trialling the latest from adidas. This one's been trialled by a number of pros over the last few months, so it's expected that this one will be out soon. Loftus-Cheek is usually an X wearer, so is this the latest iteration of that silo? It's due an update, so that seems likely.
