Global Boot Spotting

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for another round of Boot Spotting, bringing you the best new releases, special editions, custom creations and throwback classics on the feet of elite players from across the globe. Let’s see what caught our eye this week.

Antoine Griezmann (Barcelona) PUMA Ultra SL

PUMA returned to the race for the lightest (and therefore fastest, because light IS fast don't ya know) boot, releasing the new Ultra SL, which weighed a mere 90g. Antoine Griezmann slipped into this wisp of a boot for Barca's 2-0 win over Osasuna this week.

Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) Next Gen Nike Tiempo

Toni Rudiger became one of the first players to test out the next generation of the Nike Tiempo, wearing the classic blacked out prototype in training this week. From this sneak peek we can see that the lacing area appears to be one of the areas to get a tweak as part of the rework. Look forward to seeing more of this.

Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace) New Balance Furon v6+

Having been seen in blacked out New Balance boots in recent weeks, Eberechi Eze made a bigger step towards confirming himself as a NB athlete by playing in the upcoming Furon v6+. Tweaks from the v6 look minimal, but we'll know more when this drops officially sometime in the very near future.

Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII

Having been seen training in PUMA boots in recent weeks, Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman all but confirmed that his time with Nike is up by playing in a pair of 'Daybreak' Nike Mercurial Vapors, which had been blacked out.

Hector Bellerin (Arsenal) Mizuno Morelia Neo III Beta

Bellerin progresses his experiments with Mizuno, lacing up a blacked out version of the Morelia Neo III β, having previously worn the Rebula Cup in recent weeks. Could be that the Spaniard is continuing to trial any boots that grab his fancy, or it could be that he's seriously considering Mizuno as a permanent option.

Kieran Tierney (Arsenal) adidas Nemeziz .1

Another switch up in the Arsenal camp saw Kieran Tierney changing from the X into the 'Superlative' colourway of the Nemeziz. The fullback has previously tried the X Ghosted, but it appears as though he may have opted for a complete change.

Steven Sessegnon (Bristol City) Nike Magista Obra

Steven Sessegnon caught the eye in Bristol City's 2-0 loss to QPR this weekend, wearing the Nike Magista Obra from the 2015 'Silver Storm' pack. It combined a base grey colouring with turquoise hits through the Swoosh and soleplate.

Ross Barkley (Aston Villa) Nike Phantom GT NBY

Big midlands derby on the weekend with Aston Villa taking on Wolves, but it didn't quite live up to the potential, ending in a 0-0 draw. However, Ross Barkley had prepared for the occasion by giving a debut to his new Phantom GT, customised by Nike By You.

Ryan Kent (Rangers) Nike Mercurial Vapor NBY

Rangers won the Scottish Premiership without kicking a ball on the weekend, but they set that up with a 3-0 win over St. Mirren, and Ryan Kent opened the scoring in a customised pair of Nike Mercurial Vapors.

Tanguy Ndombele (Tottenham Hotspur) Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII

Tanguy Ndombele stands out as quite the character in the Spurs ranks, and that was exemplified this week when he wore two different colourways of the Nike Mercurial Vapor in training, with black on the left, and the 'Daybreak' colourway on his right. Odd combo that didn't carry across into Spurs' win against Crystal Palace.

Nick Sullivan (Perth Glory) adidas F50 Adizero I

Hats off to Perth Glory's Nick Sullivan for expertly matching his side's kit with the adidas F50 Adizero I from 2011. Didn't help the result though, with the Glory not living up to their name and crashing to a 3-0 to Wellington Phoenix.
