Ronaldo Debuts Upcoming Nike Mercurial Colourway

He may have only made the bench for Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Burnley last night, but that didn’t stop Cristiano Ronaldo debuting an upcoming colourway for the Nike Mercurial Superfly 8.

Ronaldo doesn’t do Nike By You. If he wants a new custom colourway, then Nike give him a new signature look, simple as that. That’s how we know that the new look for the Mercurial Superfly 8 on the feet of the Manchester United striker is an upcoming colourway, and not something he’s created himself using the Swoosh’s personalisation platform. So, what is it we’re looking at here?

Could be that this is a new signature colourway for the Portuguese legend, but it’s more likely to be the next instalment in the ‘Dream Speed’ line. To date, that series has seen two drops a year since its initial launch back in September 2019. But last year only saw the one, with the 4.0 arriving way back in March. So almost 12 months on, this could well be the long-awaited 005, although there doesn’t seem to be any obvious callouts to speed in this first glance.

The new colourway uses purple and turquoise pastel shades across the upper, with that large Swoosh outline reaching right down the lateral side and across the forefoot. A smaller Swoosh then sits inside, while another Swoosh sits on the medial side. With Ronaldo already wearing these boots, you can expect a drop in the coming days…
