Messi Debuts Upcoming World Cup Signature X Speedportal

National squads are getting their last bit of preparation in ahead of the World Cup, and in the Argentina camp Lionel Messi has revealed his new signature adidas X Speedportal boots. The design is inspired by the adidas F30 boots that he wore at the 2006 World Cup.

Over the last month or so brands have been dropping their boot packs for the 2022 World Cup. But while the majority of affiliated players will be wearing these boots, a select few will be given the honour of wearing their own signature boots, separating them from the rest. And chief among these stars, as expected, is Leo Messi, and the Argentinian has given us an early preview of his new signature X Speedportal.

The 2022 World Cup is set to be Messi's fifth and, let’s be realistic, likely last. His first was Germany, all the way back in 2006, 16 years ago, and so it’s looks to be there that adidas have gone for inspiration for this new signature X Speedportal in what looks to be a fitting tribute. The golden boots look nods to the adidas F30 boots worn by Messi in the 2006 World Cup, with a combination of black and white Three Stripe branding playing out across the upper. It's a look that's not overly dissimilar to the 'El Retorno' X Speedflow that he wore to signal his switch back to the speed silo back in 2021.

Will we see Messi guiding Argentina to World Cup glory in these? Would be a fitting end to his World Cup story, and these would be fitting boots in which to do it.
