The adidas ‘Pure Victory’ Predator launch advert was a treasure trove of cameos, easter eggs and teasers, and the eagle-eyed amongst us would’ve spotted what looked to be a traditionally coloured Predator 25, hinting at an upcoming release.
In case you haven’t yet scoped out the adidas ‘Pure Victory’ Predator ad, you should. It’s a throwback feel that’s chock full of all-star cameos. But more than that, being the first Three Stripes launch of the year, it has acted as a subtle preview of what’s in store in the coming weeks and months. One such release looks to be a ‘Made in Germany’ recreation of Zinedine Zidane’s Predator Precision, which we are all for. But there’s also a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse at another upcoming Predator variation, seen in Mr Beckham’s kit back as he zips it up on his cab ride while discussing the virtues of “Paul from finance”.
For all the amazing colourways that the Predator 24 gave us, we never got a traditional “Black/White/Red” release, something that will have disappointed the purists and older statesmen amongst us. Well, much to our collective joy, adidas are going to be putting that right early doors with the Predator 25.
So I’m going to be honest with you here: I know exactly what this boot is, to the point where I’ve held it in my hands. And let me say that it absolutely will not disappoint when it drops. As you can see from the glimpse in Beckham’s bag, the boot sitting alongside the “Paul” Inter Miami shirt and the ‘Pure Victory’ Predator (and further teased by the driver’s Predator air freshener) is indeed presented in that iconic “Black/White/Red” look, but believe me, that’s only scratching the surface of this design. Obviously I can’t say anymore than that, lest the suits get sent round to silence me, but one thing I will say is that the Predator has been at the heart of many memorable moments in football history over the years, and this boot could well be involved in plenty more in the future.
