David Beckham celebrated his 45th birthday over the weekend, and creative concept designers Lumo723 needed no better excuse to produce a variety of modern Predator Mutator interpretations, using some of the former England captain’s most memorable colourways from the past as inspiration, as well as also creating a special bespoke offering to cap it off.
It’s no secret that we’re big fans of David Beckham in the Predator Powerswerve. There are few more iconic pairings through the history of the game, and while the former England captain enjoyed some of his most memorable moments in the likes of the Accelerator and Precision, it was in the Powerswerve that he enjoyed a canvas that enabled him to express his personality to its fullest. And it appears that we’re not alone in our admiration of the partnership, which produced a number of signature colourways throughout the years.
And it’s these colourways that have served as the inspiration behind Lumo723’s latest creations, as the Berlin-based concept designers pay homage to three of the most iconic Powerswerve looks, with a modern interpretation on the Predator Mutator 20+.
First up there’s the gold and white option that was originally bestowed upon Beckham in celebration of his 100th England cap. That’s joined by the silver and gold look that was specially designed by Beckham himself and used several times during his spell with LA Galaxy in 2009. And rounding off the trio is the navy and gold look that once again matched up with The Galaxy’s away kit.
Finally, as an added extra, the Berlin boys have created a special bespoke option for Beckham, one that’s not based on any previous colourway in particular but that instead features unique callouts to his life, presented in the image of the tattoos that he proudly wears. The design is a striking black and white monotone canvas that leaves the focus on those specific details, with the original Predator wording appearing on the heel in red as a classy sign off.
