As Manchester City continue to establish themselves as a world brand the club have given thier current club badge a re-design moving into the new year.
Firstly, their old one was a beaut - but things change so we'll embrace it. The crest hasn't officially been revealed yet by the club but it's appeared on a government website where City have applied for a trademark, so it's as good as official. The club are expected to unveil the new design on Boxing Day after giving fans the opportunity to make a decision on the current design and if a modernised version was needed. Apparently it was so here we are.
The currently badge has been used by the club since 1997 - an era that saw the club play in the second and third tiers of English football. Nowadays City are a multi-billion pound club who are very much in anew era, focused on becoming the dominant force in world football and the new round emblem sits in-line with City's American and Australian sister clubs New York City and Melbourne City FC. The one being replaced sits below.
