Barcelona's partnership with streaming giants Spotify has seen Africa take centre stage with the release of a new ‘Barça African Connect’ playlist, and as part of the project several artists in Nigeria and South Africa were captured in their hometowns.

Football and music has always had a symbiotic relationship, and for footballers, it acts as an escape from all the noise that surrounds the game, both on and off the pitch. For Spotify, this symbiosis is best shown in the partnership with FC Barcelona, and the latest project took the them to Africa, combining football from Barca and music subcultures from the continent to create a unique playlist featuring breakthrough artists – and Barcelona fans – multi-platinum South African singer Ch’cco, Multi-award-winning Nigerian songstress Teni, as well as the highly-rated Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck and South African songstress Pabi Cooper.

The playlist is made up of different genres of music including Afrobeats, Amapiano, Afro pop and more.

The Barça African Connect campaign has been produced to further showcase the synergy that exists between Barcelona and music from the African continent – something that is strongly felt through players like Alejandro Balde, Jules Konde and Lamine Yamal, all of whom are of African descent.

Spotify and Barcelona spent some time with Odumodublvck, Teni, Pabi Cooper and Ch’cco in Nigeria and South Africa, capturing some portraits with them in personalised jersey's in their hometowns as part of the promotional push for the campaign.
