'Yankee Stadium' is an architectural megastructure that has well and truly earned its place on the sporting map of excellence. In building a future with world leading aspirations, it's only right a club like NYCFC set up shop at this landmark from the start.
Truly symbolic, it's a unique proposition for any player to face. A remarkable job done by ground staff on a fortnightly basis to transform a baseball stadium into footballing haven is quite a task, simply given the start differences between the two sports. Yet they manage it with sheer style. An immaculate pitch welcomes NYCFC and its incredibly passionate fans. An amphitheatre for football, it's one hell of a place to call 'home'.
Embarking on a second season as part of the MLS, New York City Football Club are like any new establishment finding their feet, however they do so at great pace ― Pirlo, Lampard and David Villa all providing an experienced back bone, gaining average attendances over thirty thousand is one almighty achievement for a club with a youthful footing and tailored soul.
You can be forgiven if you think 'Yankee Stadium' and think baseball. However, a patch now well shared, this city has a sky blue side that is looking to shift the gears of football in New York to enormous heights. They've certainly got the structure worthy of the elite, now it's over to those pitchwards to add a shimmer of silverware. A palace for the architectural appreciator on any level, Yankee Stadium is taking on a fresh lease of life with football breathing in a fresh chapter.
