SoccerBible’s ON A PLATE, in partnership with adidas Football and the adidas Fútbol Society, arrived in Los Angeles for more than an event—it was a cultural celebration. Honoring LA’s Mexican-American community, the gathering fused football, heritage, and creativity, bringing together artists, players, and visionaries in an unforgettable tribute.
This past weekend, SoccerBible’s ON A PLATE series, in collaboration with adidas Football and the adidas Fútbol Society, arrived in Los Angeles with something deeper than a simple event—it delivered a cultural celebration, a gathering of community, and a tribute to identity. At the heart of it all was a desire to create a moment in time, one that acknowledged the creative power of LA’s Mexican-American community and the golden thread that connects football, heritage, and culture.
Hosted at the iconic Million Dollar Theatre—one of LA’s most storied venues and a symbol of cultural pride within the Mexican-American community—the event brought together 30 creative individuals, each with unique talents, backgrounds, and perspectives. From fashion designers and graffiti artists to musicians, stylists, former players, and emerging soccer talent, the mix was vibrant, unconventional, and utterly authentic. It was this coming together of different disciplines that formed our eclectic family portrait—a creative society built not by hierarchy, but by mutual respect and cultural pride - powered by adidas and the adidas Futbol Society.
The Million Dollar Theatre, with its baroque façade and rich ties to the golden age of Mexican cinema, became more than just a venue. It was the perfect canvas to showcase what this ON A PLATE moment represented: a celebration of identity, a reflection of beauty through style, and a reminder of how places and people can hold deep symbolic meaning. We took over the full space, with “A Golden Moment” lighting up the marquee, announcing a night that felt cinematic, emotional, and entirely rooted in the now.
This gathering was timed to coincide with the release of Mexico’s new third kit—a design inspired by the same golden era of cinema that shaped so much of the culture we sought to honour. A jersey this visually striking deserved to be experienced not just as a piece of design, but through real people who live and breathe the culture that gave it life. Styled and shot in a lifestyle-led way, the kit was brought to life by those contributing daily to the rich creative soccer scene in LA. With each shot, each look, each moment shared, we gave this kit context—and, most importantly, soul.
What made the occasion even more poetic was that, on the same day, the Mexican national team took to the field in Los Angeles, playing in the Nations League at the monumental SoFi Stadium. That alignment allowed ON A PLATE to truly become a cultural journey. After soaking in the magic of the theatre, we moved to the edges of SoFi, joining forces with Pancho Villa’s Army, the passionate Mexican supporters group whose energy mirrors that of the culture we championed.
Together, we marched to the stadium in full voice, a procession that embodied joy, identity, and collective pride. Waving a bespoke flag that read “Orgullo Mexa, Cultura LA” (Mexican Pride, LA Culture), we made our message clear—when two worlds collide, when heritage meets the future, when football serves as the common language, beautiful things happen. The flag became a banner for something bigger than a matchday ritual—it was a symbol of how identity can fuel creativity, and how creativity can drive a movement.
As the streets buzzed with life and anticipation, our ON A PLATE journey moved from popcorn cups and theatre seats to sizzling street food and the megastructure of SoFi Stadium. This wasn’t just a change in venue, but a reflection of LA itself—a city in motion, constantly evolving, visually rich and multi-dimensional. It mirrored the journey of our creative fleet, moving from intimate gathering to grand-scale expression.
And fittingly, the night closed with a win—not just for the Mexican national team, but for everyone involved. As the team wore the new adidas third kit for the first time on the pitch, it looked just as powerful among the fans who had styled it earlier that day. That full-circle moment—one that started in a theatre and ended in a stadium—captured what ON A PLATE is all about: creating moments that connect culture, community, and creativity.
ON A PLATE Los Angeles was a postcard from a golden moment. A celebration of people who are pushing football culture forward in their own way. A reminder that jerseys carry stories, venues hold memories, and when the right people come together, the results are unforgettable.
