UNMARKED Episode #1 | Ryan Babel

Gracing airwaves all over, SoccerBible is proud to present a new podcast series – UNMARKED – in collaboration with ‘Out Of Home’ – a collective of four Londoners based in Amsterdam who ask real questions, real fans want to hear. Every fortnight we will release exclusive interviews with some of the biggest names and most interesting characters in football. First up, it's Ryan Babel.

By way of introduction, before we get into the story of Ryan Babel, the aspiration of UNMARKED is to bring you conversations with footballers in their natural element talking about life on and off the pitch, interests and more. It's a chance to celebrate black culture in football and shine a light on social issues in the game.

For the inaugural episode of UNMARKED, ex-Liverpool, Fulham and Ajax star, Ryan Babel shares a glimpse of his life with us. Ryan speaks about his upbringing in South East Amsterdam, breaking into the Ajax first team at 17-years-old, signing for Liverpool and dealing with racism within football. Ryan also talks about the effect of social media, his interest in real estate and what’s the next step for him after football.

The SoccerBible x Out Of Home partnership will stay true and build upon the unique storytelling and grass-roots values already established by the OOH team, while utilising SoccerBible’s brand power and global audience to bring new opportunities and further reach. The partnership will be based on parallel thinking and a mutual regard of modern football culture and will provide a new outlet for football’s generation of culturally switched-on footballers.
