South African streetwear brand Butan have linked up with Kaizer Chiefs for a debut capsule collection inspired by urban culture. The Johannesburg club, arguably the biggest football club in the country have lent their famous club crest to Butan who have in turn whipped up a stylishly understated series.
The Butan x Kaizer Chiefs partnership represents the first South African collaboration to touch the streets and the football pitch with an iconic limited edition capsule merging two seemingly unrelated, yet deeply connected worlds. The collection, which uses Kaizer Chiefs' primary orange and black colours, includes a windbreaker jacket, long and short sleeve tees, bucket hat, socks, and shorts,
Each piece from the collection is co-branded with Butan and Kaizer Chief crests and is further proof of how this streetwear-infused football scene has been taken worldwide. Kaizer Chiefs joint growing list of football clubs to link up with a streetwear or fashion label to carry their brand into new spaces. Some clubs have adopted a global reach like PSG and Jordan, but it's the more localised collaborations that resonate hardest as the club and streetwear label fully understand the local culture, and are best suited to translate that into their work. A strong one, this.
The capsule collection is available at all Butan stockists. Follow them on Instagram for list of stockists.
