One of the most surprising bits of news you’ll hear today is the latest left-field collaboration to come form the footballing world, and it sees Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund announcing a partnership with the American animated comedy series SpongeBob SquarePants. You heard that right. PSG get Jordan, Juve get Palace, BVB get SpongeBob.
The announcement is accompanied by a lifestyle capsule, which features four different clothing items: two hoodies and two tees, all featuring SpongeBob and his entourage decked out in the famous yellow and black of Dortmund.
Speaking of the partnership, a representative from Dortmund said: "The yellow hero from Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob SquarePants, officially becomes the new face of the latest fan collection. With it, television broadcaster Nickelodeon and the football club herald a longer-term cooperation with more joint activities."
Whilst there are no further details on what this partnership could yield in the future, we're keeping our fingers firmly crossed for an on-pitch option next season. Just look at how happy the BVB players are in the lifestyle options...
