Umbro Partner With Factory Records & New Order For ‘Madchester’ Series

Stepping on to the 1990’s ‘Madchester’ baggy groove, Umbro have partnered with iconic cultural titans Factory Records and New Order for a collection of jerseys that serve as uniform for those dedicated to music and football.

For SS21, Umbro are lauding the global impact of a single city through a golden era. Commemorating the 90’s, a decade when Manchester was the beating heart of British culture, the Double Diamond celebrate their hometown and the city’s musically rich roots by partnering with two British icons in Factory Records and New Order for the ‘Madchester’ series, delivering a uniform for those dedicated to music and football with a distinctly baggy swagger.

First up, there’s New Order. The relationship between the brand and the British band synced perfectly for the 1990 World Cup, where the ‘World In Motion’ anthem roared through football and music stadiums alike. For SS21, they unite once again to pay homage to a piece of music and footballing history with a collaboration that salutes each other’s continued iconic status.

The Umbro x New Order collection includes two jerseys with a markedly 1990s touch. The ice blue Away Jersey features a vintage fit with contrast rouleau collar, jacquard pattern fabrication and trimmed with the 1990 tape detailing on the sleeve. The chest includes Umbro’s diamond logo, Peter Saville’s ‘World In Motion Globe’ graphic from the single artwork, with New Order’s logo on the back nape. The collection also includes a white Home Jersey.

Founded in 1978, the iconic Mancunian independent record label ‘Factory Records’ introduced a parade of major musicians and bands, not to mention one legendary nightclub, which combined to change the music scene forever. The collaboration with Factory Records delivers a three-piece collection, including a home, away and third jersey, each inspired by the intersection of music, dance and football.

The bold yellow Home Jersey lands in a vintage fit with contrast rouleau collar, jacquard pattern fabrication and trimmed with diamond and hazard patterned shoulder taping. On the front of the shirt ‘The Factory’ logo takes centre stage alongside Umbro’s diamond logo and Factory Record’s iconic ‘Hearing Protection’ graphic. An Away Jersey in black and a Third Jersey in contrast 50/50 black and yellow stripes complete the collection.
