Celebrating the 2022 World Cup campaign, Nike have partnered with Spanish retailer, Sprinter, to produce a special one-of-one mash-up shirt. Known as the ‘One Nike Jersey’, the shirt combines key elements from the jerseys of Nike’s prime federations.
The World Cup should be a time of togetherness in football; a time of celebration, of fun, and of creativity. Celebrating all of this in an innovative way, Nike has partnered with Spanish retailer Sprinter, to produce a special mash-up jersey that fuses together key elements of the Swoosh’s prime federations’ current jerseys being worn out in Qatar.
Designer and artist Alex Hug was brought on board for the amalgamation project, which features pieces of the national outfits from the likes of England, France, Brazil, The Netherlands, USA and Portugal. With most national shirts featuring one block colour in their design, Hug took an alternative approach for the construction of the ‘One Nike Jersey’ compared to most other mashups seen in the past, selecting key elements and combining them, rather than switching in the correct area of each shirt. So what we get is a unique design that features the national crests of each country and numerous Swoosh logos.
As there’s only been one of these produced, there’s only one way to get your hands on it, and that’s through an auction, which is taking place until 18 December. All money raised will go to CEAR, the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid, which works for the fulfilment of the human rights of all refugees, stateless persons, and migrants. After the bidding, the final amount will be matched by Sprinter and donated. So a great piece of memorabilia, and a worthy cause.
