Defected Records & Meyba Link Up For Croatia-Inspired Jersey

Legendary house music record label Defected Records has linked up with Meyba to celebrate their 25th anniversary and annual award-winning Croatia festival, launching a limited-edition jersey which draws inspiration from Croatia’s 1998 World Cup kit.

Football heritage meets house music legacy, as Defected Records teams up with Meyba to celebrate its 25th anniversary. For this, a special edition football shirt has been produced, with a design inspired Croatia’s 1998 FIFA World Cup kit. Why Croatia, you ask? Well that’ll be because Croatia is a special place for Defected Records as they host their Defected Croatia festival every year in Tisno.

Incorporating a number of design elements honouring Defected’s 25-year reign, the shirt features a ‘25’ squad number, the brand’s unmistakable Worldwide badge, and intricate stitch detail with two gold stars representing its two UK No.1 singles. It's presented on a wavy take on Croatia's signature red and white chequered home shirt designs.

MEYBA shirts have featured in some of the football’s most iconic photographs,” commented Simon Dawson, Brand Director at Defected. “Picture Maradona, Cruyff, Lineker and a young Guardiola in the golden era of football – the MEYBA logo is front and centre. Partnering with a brand engrained within football’s culture and heritage was a natural fit for Defected. Collaboratively we have designed a limited-edition Defected x MEYBA shirt that looking back 25 years or so is a nod to the classic Croatia kit from the 1998 World Cup, featuring some unique Defected touches throughout.

Jonathan Jones, Head of Global Marketing at MEYBA, added The worlds of football, music and fashion have never been so closely aligned – football shirts are now a firm favourite amongst club and festival goers, making this unique limited-edition shirt for Defected Croatia 24’ the perfect collaboration.

The special edition shirts will be available exclusively at store.defected.com.
