The latest club to get the adidas Originals treatment are AS Roma, who have revealed a new retro collection for 24/25, which is inspired by the Three Stripes’ archives, and comes complete with Trefoil and the ASR monogram.
This season, adidas have been leaning hard on their heritage, building on retro collections from last season and bringing the Trefoil logo back to the performance stage with their collection of third kits for the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Arsenal. Acting as a complementing companion to those kits, adidas have also been releasing retro Originals LFSTLR collections, and while they didn’t get the third shirt treatment, AS Roma are the latest club to get an Originals collection.
Key to these releases has been the return of the Trefoil – a logo that, following its switch to a lifestyle setting – has taken on an elevated status of cool. And it is prominent here for Roma’s latest collection, sitting alongside multicoloured oversize stripes, and the ASR monogram introduced in the Testaccio era. The collection includes a full-zip sweatshirt, a co-ordinating t-shirt, a zippered fleece, pants and shorts. From a design perspective it focuses on the deep maroon red as the dominant colour, with the Three Stripes and trims in yellow, with red and black composing the typical multi-coloured oversize stripe design.
