This cultural phenomenon happened around the same time that Admiral Sports’ launched their first-ever replica football shirt, and now, Killa Villa and Admiral have teamed up to celebrate these landmarks, combining to create a limited-edition capsule collection called ‘The Villains’ that blends the vibe of the city’s street style with the classic designs of Admiral and historic American soccer jerseys.
Killa Villa is a creative football collective whose work has been deeply rooted in Hip Hop culture and recognised for collaborations with industry icons such as Wu-Tang Clan. And so they’re perfectly placed for this collaboration, bringing together two iconic worlds: the bold street style of 1970s New York and the timeless appeal of Admiral’s iconic NASL soccer jerseys, worn throughout the 70s and 80s by legendary players such as Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer, and George Best.
‘The Villains’ collection is all about the era’s signature aesthetic – striking colour blocking and bold branding - paying homage to Admiral’s history in US soccer while nodding to our links to hip-hop royalty.
The capsule features two heavyweight football shirts and a bold graphic tee. The home jersey is inspired by Admiral’s iconic 1970s chevron design in sky blue, while the away kit features a monochromatic black-and-white look with a pop of orange, reflecting Hip-Hop’s classic palette. Both shirts also draw influence from the early 90s US Soccer with heavyweight materials and bold branding creating a stand-out design. These two jerseys sit alongside ‘The Villains’ graphic tee which celebrates five decades since the birth of Hip-Hop in New York.
