Bridging the gap between virtual and real, Nike and EA Sports have teamed up via dotSwoosh to present the Nike x EA SPORTS FC Founders shirt, exclusive to FC 25 Founders.
Back in June 2023, Nike and EA Sports announced an exciting new partnership that promised to enhance and personalise the virtual sports experience for fans all over the world. The collaboration brought together two of the biggest names in sport and entertainment in a move that was said would lead to all new ways for members of .SWOOSH, Nike’s new digital community experience, and EA SPORTS fans to express their personal style through play. And now we have a straight up example of that with the reveal of the Nike x EA SPORTS FC Founders LS shirt.
Right, so first up, to qualify as a Founder, gamers have to have played EA SPORTS FC 24 by 26 September 2024 at 11:59 PST and then played EA SPORTS FC 25 by 31 October 2024 at 11:59 PST. If you're outside those parameters, then you're just going to have to content yourself with looking on admiringly. Being a Founder is a mark of status, and Founders will keep that recognition status and receive exclusive cosmetic rewards in FC 25, with this jersey being one of the first, available in game and now in limited quantities in the real world.
On to the design, and the Nike x EA SPORTS FC Founders LS shirt arrives as a tribute to the iconic silhouettes of ‘90s kits, establishing a new team identity rooted in youth culture, sport, and gaming. To be uber clear, the shirt is made exclusively for Founders: the biggest fans of the game. The Founders build the future of FC, and this piece is a celebration of their community. The shirt’s design references the virtual in-game kits Nike designed for Founders in EA SPORTS FC 25. It sees an almost luminescent piping detail effect throughout the black base, creating a futuristic ‘Tron’-style look, particularly apparent when the lights go out. The EA Sports and dotSwoosh logos stand out in green.
It’s the latest in a digital-come-reality crossover, and there’ll be plenty more to come.
