Nike Re-Release The 2004 Portugal Shirt

Following in the footsteps of fellow Portuguese-tongued Brazil, Portugal are the latest international federation to get a classic jersey reissue, and this time it’s the iconic design from Euro 2004.

Earlier this year Nike reissued the 1998 Brazil national team shirt that was made famous by the exploits of Ronaldo and his debut R9 Mercurials on the pitches of France. Of course, the drop was met with huge approval from fans across the globe, and now that’s been followed up by the reissue of Portugal’s shirt from 2004, recreating that T90-era look to perfection. The drop comes in the waning months of the Nike x Portugal partnership, which expires at the end of the year.

Portugal and Nike have been in partnership since 1997, but that partnership is set to end at the end of this year, with PUMA in position to step in and pick up the reigns. It brings to a close one of the longest-lasting International associations for Nike, matched by Brazil and bettered only by The Netherlands (1996) and USA (1995). And so they bow out on a glorious high with this drop, harking back to what on paper was one of the greatest teams in the nation’s history, boasting players such as Luis Figo, Rui Costa, Deco and even a young Cristiano Ronaldo. The shirt was the one that was worn for the thrilling, if ultimately heartbreaking, home European Championship from 2004.

The design sees a rich “Sport Red” base enhanced with a bold all-over tonal diamond design and eye-catching gold piping, while green accents complete the faithful recreation.

The reissue is available in two options: a clean version without numbers and a player issue edition, which comes complete with ‘Figo’ names on the back and the number 7, recreating the iconic circled T90 design.
