VFL Bochum have unveiled a special ‘Bochum Collection’, made in collaboration with German music star Herbet Gröneymeyer and Munich-based fashion label Societas. The collection celebrates the city’s unique character and heritage by blending past aesthetics with contemporary fashion.
German fashion brand Societas are well known for their eagerness to collaborate with brands within the football market, with a recent partnership with BSC Young Boys being an example. They now team up with Bundesliga side VFL Bochum for a lifestyle collection that embodies the identity and culture of the city. The collection also features input from German music star Herbet Grönemeyer, who sung the iconic song ‘Bochum’ which has aptly united people throughout the city by serving as a love song to their beautiful home.
The ‘Bochum Collection’ features four garments that combine design elements with profound meaning, including two jerseys and a hoodie and t-shirt. Designed as a visual narrative about the city and its people, it incorporates distinctive elements closely associated with Bochum and the club. The two jerseys take inspiration from VFL Bochum’s bygone eras, using design details to reminisce a formative era for the club and pay homage to the 80’s and 90’s. Whilst jacquard patterns and prints depict a graphically modified thistle – a symbol of resilience and a plant that has a deep connection to the region.
The Societas logo adorns the chest next to the classi VFL Bochum club crest on both of the jersey, whilst one features a replacement sponsor of 'Tief Im Westen' – meaning 'Far In The West'. A clean blackout look takes over one of the two jersey, highlighting subtle floral designs across the base. Both jerseys feature that classic fold-over collar that we all know and love, distinctive to the era that they are looking to celebrate with this collection.
The Bochum Collection will be available 27 March at societas.club
