Nike Sportswear brings revolutionary power-lacing to the Air Max platform, as the Swoosh welcomes Nike Adapt into the Air Max family, with the launch of the Adapt Auto Max sneaker. This here is about as futuristic as it gets.

As part or the Air Max day celebrations today, Nike has unveiled its latest creation, the Adapt Auto Max – a future-infused beast that takes the classic aesthetics of the iconic Air Max 90 and Nike Mag, and evolves them to create a whole new silhouette through an increased profile and thicker midsole. The OG cassette design element of the Air Max 90 now serves to highlight the Air Max unit, and the FitAdapt engine helps allow instant personalisation and responsiveness.

"Nike Adapt is our pinnacle offering where performance meets connection," says Nike Global Digital Innovation Senior Director Brandon Burroughs. "For the first time we can deliver dynamic comfort and protection to the Air Max platform, powered by a frictionless digital utility that will enable the shoe to get smarter and do more over time. In coupling Nike Adapt with our iconic Air Max platform, we’re providing wearers with the future of fit and ultimate ride in one shoe.

Nike’s FitAdapt technology has been around for a little while now, but as it was built to be "Future Ready,” it’s able to progress the existing Nike Adapt ecosystem, which means exciting new developments such as wearers being able to instantly adjust their Nike Adapt Auto Max shoes using only voice commands, while Apple Watches cam be connected and used to easily tighten or loosen the fit from your wrist.

And the fun doesn’t stop there. Coming this spring, Nike Adapt Auto Max wearers will not only be able to illuminate their lace engines – choosing from 13 iconic Nike colours – but they'll also be able to select pulsing or static options to complement their personal style. There will also be two fit modes created by the app — one tuned for activity and the other for relaxing. While the Air Max 2090 was launched recently as a future-inspired shoe, the Adapt Auto Max just is the future, plain and simple.

The Nike Adapt Auto Max launches this spring.
